Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greetings, all. The name is Marshall, and I hail from North Carolina in the States. I've lurked on these forums for quite a while, mostly to learn from and/or drool over the work of you talented folks.

I've only taken on a handfull of prop-related ventures (that I will share with you soon), but I hope to change that with time and experience.

Best wishes to you all! And thanks for creating such an awesome community!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Glad to be here finally.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi all,

I've been watching this site for a while now, and you guy make/have some impressive stuff here :thumbsup And since not so long ago I'm a member too now :) I'm fairly new to collectibles and such, so I don't have much to show yet. I collect props/replicas/collectibles from all sorts of films, and don't focus on just a couple of movies. I like the diversity of it.

I'm looking forward to spend some more time here :)

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

see you all around!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello! I've been a lurker for years and never mustered the nerve to create an account or post. I am very grateful for the opportunity to create an account, though the skill exhibited here is awe-inspiring and more than a little intimidating to a guy like me.
I have a strong interest in props and prop making, though my limited technical know-how and minuscule budget have always gotten in the way.
I love to create costumes and props on the cheap, and usually out of found items.
So far I have created:
A wearable, complete Jedi Knight costume.
Wearable Jedi Knight armor (the story is that a Jedi had to craft his own armor on the battlefield, so the pieces look like scraps from a Republic ship cut with a lightsaber).
A suit of wearable Viking armor inspired by the film the 13th Warrior, made of random found items.
A large piece of Kryptonite made from an icicle Christmas ornament painted with a green sharpie.
Various Green Lantern rings.
A Legion flight ring.
A classic Doctor Who scarf.

My current projects include:
A classic Doctor Who sonic screwdriver.
I am putting the finishing touches on a Ghosbusters Proton Pack with lights and sound, made mostly from found items.
A suit of COG armor from the video game Gears of War.
In the planning stages I have a (hopefully) interactive HAL 9000 interface, complete with voice recognition software and the capability to dim my bedroom lights (all other voice commands will result in "I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave.").

I love free paper props and prop displays. I really love building elaborate ways to show off my props (built and purchased). For example, I have built mannequins for my Jedi costume and armor, my proton pack and a 7 ft. mannequin to display my giant Viking. I have constructed a simple light up display for my Doctor Who sonics that resembles a part of the TARDIS console, and an elaborate display for my replica Gears of War Lancer assault rifle that involves burnt rubble, skulls and flickering fire effects.
I have also constructed a Zombie Survival Kit. The contents are a hatchet, machete, two light sticks, a hunting knife, a .9mm pistol with a box of Winchester hollow point bullets, brass knuckles, gauze, disinfectant wipes, a "In the Event of Zombie Attack" caution poster, caution tape, the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks and a Zombie Survival Guide pouch full of misc. survival items. It is displayed upright in a large shadow box with "In case of zombie apocalypse break glass" in red letters over it.
And while I am proud of my home made props, I do not believe they are anywhere near the quality of others here. I am a mere amateur who scrapes by.

For everyone out there, keep up the amazing, inspirational work! And again, thanks for the opportunity to join this community.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greetings everyone. Many of you may know me from thepropden or the 501st. I go by Darth Templar and I am a proud member of the 501st Legion. I have been wanting and waiting a long time to join the RPF. It's the place to be for props. I am glad that I am now able to be a part of this great community.

See everyone around,

- Jim

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greeting to every Replica Prop Forum Member and its staff.
Its really an honor to be Here.

I am Spartan375 from Hellas

Maybe some of you know me from the Blaster Builders Club, 200AD Boards or MegaCity Justice.

Here are some pictures of me so far Creations:

My first ever prop.
A "sniper rifle" made just for practice.
Its nothing special, really.

Grip is from an old toy gun and is still working perfect.
Scope is real 4x.

Second.
Something like a SMG. I haven't decide yet if it supposed to fire bullets on Energy-Plasma Projectiles... Well, you can choose any option you like.

It looks a little weird on the picture, but the truth is that because of a mysterious cause, i can't take a good picture of it... Strange...
Just for the record.
Every part on this Prop is custom made. Grip, Magazine, Flash Hider, both sights... Except the Red Dot sight. I was thinking to do a Custom one, but i wanted a Real one on this. The trigger is working and the two buttons can be spin around.

Now i am working on Judge Dredd's Lawgiver Mark I, and i am also gathering materials and some equipment to make a E-11 Blaster and many other gun props.

Also i am Making some Grenade Props from Concrete, fixing an old Air Soft gun and thinking what to do with an old Toy gun.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greetings! My name is Mark, I'm 39 years old going on 14 :lol Both I and my wife are 501st members and enjoy costuming immensely. We have two teenage kids that are getting into the act too! I enjoy making as much of the costumes as I can as it helps keep the costs down and it expands my skillset. BTW I'm Mobus just about everywhere so everyone, especially legion peeps, can find me pretty easily. :cool

Some of the items I've created have been Tie pilot greeblies that I turned on my lathe.

I created my daughters Jawa Ion Blaster using a toy rifle (enfield lookalike) that they sell outside the Indiana Jones Stunt show at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I've been working on making a DLT-19 heavy blaster, but I've stalled with it. I need to get back on it and get it done.

I also re-worked one of the Master Replicas CE (collector edition) helmets to get rid of the unsightly gaps and mold lines. Turned out very nice. I marched it at Star Wars Weekends last year and got a lot of good comments on it.

Glad to be a part of a great community of talented folks like this.
