Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi,

I am new here but have been an avid collector for a long time.

For those Trekers that remember Marco Enterprises?

I owned a company called Weapons Masters Of the WestCoast. We made the best Working Next Gen Tricorders and Phasers. Until we were sued by Viacom.

I am always looking for a one of a kind or limited prop.

I am looking forward to contributing here.

I have alot of Prop making experience as well as Electronics.

I am a Biomedical Engineer by trade.

I have jumped in with Howard on his Crystal Skull Project.

Cary:)

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi everyone!
New boy here, be nice :)
Am a collector of Lord of the Rings, Aliens (mmber of Aliens Legacy) and Predator (member of Hunter's Lair). I'm looking forward to making my way through this board now too, plenty of reading to be done.
I'll try and keep the newbie questions to a minimum and will apologise to my credit cards now before I check out the junkyard threads...

Speak to you all soon (well maybe not all, but you get me :) )

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello, My Name is Josh Hoover and I have been trying to register for this site for a while now. So I am glad I was able to now. I am currently attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh majoring in entertainment design. I have about a year left and hope to get into any type of museum display work, which I am doing a little now for the Carnegie Museum of natural history.

Most of my work is Paleo related, but I do other FX type stuff that I hope to show on here soon.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hey everyone, my name's Anthony, and I've been wanting to get on these boards for a while now. It's great to be able to poke around and discuss such a wide variety of props and costuming! I'm mostly into Star Wars costuming, (came over here from TDH), but I did do a Stargate Atlantis costume with some friends for DragonCon '08. I'd love to get involved in other costumes as well, it's nice to have a variety of stuff, and not just Star Wars.

I'm an Engineering Student in Central Florida and hoping to work in the Aerospace field some day, but we'll see how well that works out. I guess life is just getting started! The hardest part of doing the costuming thing is finding the time to work on it all! I've got plenty of stuff to do, just not the time! Hopefully I'll be able to find time to work on everything and share it with the great community here!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi folks

I was born in 1981 and a SW fan since I was seven years old when I first saw ROTJ.

I always wanted to have a lightsaber in my hands (although I realised quite quick that lightsabers do not exist in reality :lol) and when I had access to the internet when I was...about 17 I did some research in props for the first time.

Well, time went by and I lurked around this place since the very beginning.

I never registered here because I had nothing to show which was kind of embarassing for me.

This time, registration was open again and I feel ready to show some stuff that I have.

My actual goal is to set up a decent prop room which also will serve as a home cinema.

Anyway here are some pics...but nothing really special.

The lightsaber grips are mock ups and the graflex flash handles are replicas. I have a bunch of originals too but they are not pictured here (except the ESB and ANH saber which are also WIP).

And here's a shot of my WIP prop room / home cinema:

When everything is finished, the plaque will be mounted :) (sad that I didn't find a THX plaque).

My actual projects are a life size freddy kruger and a lifesize rotj vader.

Though I don't think I can't be able to provide something stunning new to the community, I hope I'll have a good time here and to refine my collection.

Best wishes

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello.I am from Cincinnati,Ohio and have been a Star Wars and Sci-fi fan since Star Wars first came out in '77 but have been interested in costuming and prop making for only a few years now.My main interest is Doctor Who and I was a member of the Doctor Who fan club here in Cincinnati for over 22 years.I am also interested in Star Trek (movies or TV show/shows).I even had my own Klingon costume and have my own Klingon character named R'FFLS (pronounced Ru-Fulls).It is a take off of ruffles potato chips. You know the one with "ridges".I know bad pun but what the hey,if you can't have fun with fandom what's the point.I am glad to be here and hope to make some new friends and learn a thing or two about props and costume making and maybe teach a couple of things that I may know that others don't.I am working on 3 new lightsaber versions including a few new ideas for versions that I haven't seen anywhere else yet.I will post pictures and even throw in how I made them so you can make your own.All of my props are pretty inexpensive to make because I don't have a lot of money and have to consider cost into my creative process.Kind of like georege lucas did when he was making Star Wars 4.Well,thanks for reading and if you want to talk just leave me a message.Note-This is my first foray into this type of thing so bear with me if I make a few mistakes here and there. Thanks again.thumbsup

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hey there, I'm Tronor, 18 and from Scarborough in the UK.
Relatively new to prop and costume making, but willing to throw myself into it and embrace it all.
I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, POTC, Batman, well any movies that were graphic novles, and many movies (too many to name).
Stumbled across this place when I was looking for a costuming forum, and have started some Mando armour, and hopefully starting on a Jack Sparrow and Joker costume soon.
I'm eager yet patient enough to hopefully get these done :)
Any and all help from experienced members is appreciated and welcomed greatly :)
Thanks for having me.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

I'm Dr. Stantz, I tend to collect mainly seaQuest stuff, and am planning to do a proton pack someday when time and money are less of an issue.

I'm on several other boards but don't post a lot unless there's something that really gets my interest.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greetings everyone. My name is Mike. I'm currently part of the 501st Legion, Florida Garrison, Squad 7 as Tyranneix, TD-8732. I currently have a suit of FX Sandtrooper Armor that I'm working to upgrade slowly. I've been watchign over here for over a year and have been waiting paitently for my chance to join. Thanks to the admins for allowing me in. I's been building models way before any prop or costume building I've done and I've been greatly influenced recently by some of the stuff I've seen (the AT-STs and Star Destroyers kick butt).

I'm also part of the Wolf-Pack Elite and have a custom Umbrella Corp Centurion that I'm working on as well (done, just upgrading it).

Thanks again for the opportunity to join the RPF.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello everyone,

My name is Jeff and I live in the Chicago suburbs. I'm a huge SF movie, TV and book fan. I have amassed a large collection of props, helmets and studio scale (mostly Star Wars) over the years. I still have all the Kenner toys I grew up playing with stored away in my basement. I've gotten a few of the updated versions for my son, and me, to play with. :lol

I used to build dioramas, HO train layouts and models when I was younger. I'm finally getting to a point in my life, with family and career, where I can get back to a few of those long forgotten pleasures. I've been a big fan of the RPF for some time now. It seems I'd always manage to miss the open registrations, until now that is. Some of my other hobbies include photography, salt water reef aquariums, motorcycles and sports.

I'm going to dive right into the SW SS kit building. I hope to graduate to kit bashing before too long. I look forward to sharing, and gaining, any tips/tidbits/techniques with the extremely talented user base that is the RPF.

Cheers,
JS

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greetings and salutations.

My name is Peter, a architectural vizualization intern from Denmark. I suppose what got me to this fine lot of internet was my obsession of cool things that I did not own, and could not really get. Which is also the probable reason why I started doing CGI.

However, some things that are smaller than spaceships, are more fun in reality. Or at least I found out after watching A. Savage rambling about his creative projects.

I also suppose that starting sculpting physically instead of digitally, will at some point make me a better artist.

So please bear with me as I drool over your incredible creations, and ask for tips for my own.

Godspeed
//Peter Selzer Rasmussen
