Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greetings. My name is Jessica from the SF Bay Area. I am a diehard ape fanatic and have been for over 30 years and counting. If I am not thinking about apes I am working on something Planet of the Apes related. I recently started learning how to sculpt (1/6 scale). I also customize 1/9 and 1/6 scale action figures (mostly ape related). I'm your basic all-around crafter. I am working on my own Zira costume, and have asked a very talented team to help me put together the appliances but I have winged together most of the costume myself. So, thank you for having me, RPF.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Howdy All.
Not much to tell here. Sci Fi fan from WAY back. I'm talking watching Star Trek (and yes, I'm talking TOS) and waiting for the next NEW episode! I've since been corrupted by the dark (and not so dark) side of the force and have since started building goodies.
Cheers!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello, My name is JV and I am from Texas. I stumbled onto this site about a year ago and have been visting it ever since. I got a few projects that I am slowly working on whenever I have time off from work. I am still a novice at prop making. Looking at the fantastic replicas that you guys have made make me want to try my hardest to complete my projects and improve my skills. I hope to learn from you all and thanks for the welcome!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greetings from The Kingdom of Denmark.

My name is Tobias. A while ago my friend and I stumbled upon a video on Youtube with Adam Savage talking about the Maltese Falcon and the dodo. He mentioned "The Replica Prop Forum" and we were curious enoguh to go check it out. We were amazed by the craftmansship and geekiness that this community contains... :p

...and we wanted to be a part of it. So now we are both working paper maps, nazi passports and grail diaries. :D

Here are some of the stuff we have allready done:

I hope this will turn out to become one of the possitive experiences of my life.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

I'm Rob,

I love trek models and props as well as anything thats well designed and looks cool, as well as those famous ugly ones.

I own Acreation Models, make decals mostly to help people who don't have the patience to paint aztec details onto a kit.

Glad to be here. Finally. After missing several previous signup events. :)

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello from New Hampshire,
My name is Patrick and I have only recently started getting into prop replica collecting/making. Most of my experience has been working with wood and metal (furniture and jewelry making), so I am hoping to get some hints/tips from all of you on working with other materials.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello! I'm an instructional designer and artist. I've got some big ideas and projects in mind. I'm just getting my gloves wet (safety first) with silicone mold making and casting.

I look forward to lots of fun projects.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello all! I am a costumer of cloth and like to dabble in making props, okay I have ideas and dreams about making them. Anyway, I was pointed this way from a Star Wars costuming site because of the wealth of knowledge. I'll be poking about here and there.
I live in Minnesota and that's about it for now.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

hello all!

i just wanted to do the appropriate introduction post. i'm an unemployed graphic designer/ stay at home dad. i've been doing costumes for about 3 years now. i started with a "budget" boba fett, a 501st biker scout and have worked on a few star wars helmets. i hope to get into costumes that aren't star wars and perhaps learning the ropes of doing some sculpting of my own for props or helmets.

thanks for letting me become a part of the RPF community.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello there! My name is Laura. I have always been fascinated with making all sorts of things. I hope to learn more from this community. I primarily sew costumes...and build props made out of basic materials. I also like to make custom jewerly in my spare time as well. I hope to gain more knowledge from all the talented members here at the RPF =)

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greeting fellow Short Ears!

I actually started my prop replica collection with scaled statues of the beautiful and majestic Moai of Easter Island, and Rapa Nui is one ot my favorite films. The word "replica" in my eBay searches quickly led to finding reproductions of props from other movies I grew up on, and like you all, I was permanently infected by the prop collecting bug, lol!

I'm not a model or prop maker, but I have tried my had at chiseling (only way to make an AUTHENTIC Moai), and I look forward to adding more skill sets (EDIT: starting with spell checker, lol!) inspired by the wealth of talent here on the RPF.

Cheers!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

hi there from germany,
I started with statues from sideshow (lord of the rings), collected some star wars figures from gentle giant and continued with all kind of indiana jones props.
last thing I made myself is a indiana jones passport:

I am interested in all that great movie and tv-show props and have always the feeling, to have too less time for all that stuff I am interested in or I would like to create.

glad to be here
