New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

Does anyone know if the Emitter head screws off? Mine move a little as does the metal section next to the acrillic rod.

On another note, has anyone tried to remove the varnish and if so, what did you use?

Many thanks

Many thanks! Will dig out thar 100% proof Russian Vodka I was given at Christmas :)

On another note for a different matter. Can anyone reccomend a good metal filler from the UK?

Cheers

Has anyone found a good way to open up the glass section to change out the wires for a mod of the 9th doctor version?

You have first pry off the micro momentary switch that is on the board then sodder a pair of thinner wires to the contact points. Though be warned, the contact points are very very small and you would have to sharpen the tip of the soddering iron so as not to flood the entire area with sodder. .

i just started on this thread but im NOT SURE why people are painting their sonic screwdrivers DARKER colors and saying its like the one in "11th hour".
the one in "11th hour" IS the same colour as the wand company sonic, it was probably only the lighting that was different in the episode that through people off so they remember it having a darker tint
i've taken SCREEN CAPS of 11th hour for comparison

please let me know what you this

i think MODing sonic screwdrivers are cool and all. but it would be cool to see some personal original MODs going on, as the SS is a very personal tool and other's who have them tend to be of their own make and design or color pattern. it would be cool to see others make it their own.

It has a darker blue wash in The Eleventh Hour. Quite a bit different to TWC's and Tennant's colour, and the only time that colour is seen on the sonic. It is still on there to this day (well, most of it anyway). I thought it was caused by the use of the KY jelly they put on it for the slime, but someone with better access to the prop than me confirmed it was put on there deliberately and not a result of KY.

Another thing I was wondering was in regards to the glass tube is there a good way to get in there to change out the yellow shrink wrap with some black shrink wrap and red wire?

how would one replace the micro switch?

Oh, btw EVERYBODY who has a sonic 10 remote. Something I've noticed on this forum that the FX get messed up and star buzzing uncontrollably.

The sonic was released earlier this year. So I guess its not weatherproof. But if you take it into the cold/outside winter -you'll notice it malfunctions and doesn't work properly. This is due to the circetboard not bein g fully covered because of th gap in the slider. The cold Air freezes it.

Remedy : give it a charge with whatever you can charge it with. But also, warm it back up to room tempeture. The charging helps the battary heat but also putting it under something WARM not HOT would help as well.

Works for me. I had the same problem as the guy that made that. I'd of his malfunctioning sonic.

And remember :) treat her like a person, nice and sensitive like ;) she likes that.

Guess theses sonics do have a lot in common with the one on the show after all XD

Please note that some battery types do not fair well in the extreme cold. You run into this with a telescope outside that uses batteries, such as for a laser pointer or star-finder. It works better with rechargables.

Somebody help me please. Im so sad, my emitter stopped lighting up and it is fully charged, I tried powering it off and letting it sit but it still isnt working. Im scared that its broken because as far as I know i dont have the money to replace it because it took me so long to save up for it and I dont know if TWC will take it in because ive had it for more than a month. I've been taking very good care of it and the only think ive done is remove the bump and darken the cracks. This is my favorite thing in all of time and space, somebody please help.

you may want to reach out to either Chris or Richard (both can be found on this thread)

I can personally attest that the folks at TWC will bend over backward to help. :thumbsup

So I received my sonic from think geek with a massive dint in the emitter head, is this sort of thing normal? I live in Australia so I guess I can't really get a replacement.
