My Rocketeer Collection Update 12/17 new layout and info

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY/updated)

EvilRocketeer -

Any collection updates? I was looking for Rocketeer Artist Edition reviews (before mine shows up) and noticed that Dave Stevens' Mother was at Comic Con signing prints. I'm curious about the images and print size. If you made it to Comic Con that is.

Propsculptor: The menus have actual items listed..The bulldog cafe menu goes more into detail though with pricing...If you look up my screen-used rocketeer thread..there are some pictures..

Harada: Haha..... There is a science fiction museum in seattle I believe..It has some rocketeer screen-used items there...However, the helmet they have is a Marketing helmet...It isn't a screen-used or production helmet....Some-one said the sign or the info sign said it was a screen-used helmet, but it isnt...

Wakeem: Darn, I didnt know she was there..A fellow rocketeer buddy told me he met a person from the Dave Steven's estate at Comic Con, but I didnt know it was her. I picked up my book early Friday morning when no-one was there...I wasn't really impress with IDW booth, so I didnt stay around it. The book isnt limited to 300 either...They meant to say 300 were sold at comic con, but it is really limited to 1600.... :unsure......I havent added much to the collection except for the book..Been too busy trying to remodel my room to fit everything inside....The last items I got were the sideshow pf figure, the MR marketing/ prototype helmet, and the production harness buckle

The book is huge and it is amazing inside...I love it..I strongly recommend it...I will take pictures later on tonight and post them....

Also, not sure if you heard....IDW has the comic book rights now, and they are doing a rocketeer comic book miniseries...Alex ross did the covers for the 4 part issues that are set to be released in 2011

IDW Artist edition..................................Alex Ross Cover for miniseries

Well, 1600 of the Artist Edition isn't bad. I should have my Artist Edition soon I hope. Off hand, I think the Rocketeer Complete was 3000 and that sold out fast. But they are doing a reprint...Which makes me wish I sold my first edition as they were going for at least double the retail price for a while. I doubt that IDW will lower the quality of the reprint or mess around with the cover.

I hope the new series is cool. I wish Alex Ross was doing the whole thing and not just the covers. The artists they get need to push the details of their work like Stevens did.

I think I'm going to pick up the new Dark Horse Bettie Page statue to go with my Artist Edition. It's the best statue I've seen of her yet.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY/updated)

did you get your artist edition book yet? what did you think of it?

yeah, I coudnt believe how much the complete series was selling for..I bought mine on amazon for 50 I believe and i seen some sell for close to 200...It amazed me it sold that high because these arent even signed...I wonder how much my signed brush with passion book would sell for...Yeah, a second edition is coming out. It might have a different cover. I hope it does..

I was hoping to see dave dorman, jim lee or an adam hughes work on the comics.....I know adam hughes was a big fan...I hope they dont get an artist to draw the rocketeer all gooney looking like the dark horse statue that came out a few years ago..that was horrible in my opinion...Probably the worse rocketeer statue.....The betty page statue is amazing..it is dead on, and it looks like they took their time in creating it..It looks flawless

I have it. I've been trying to set aside time to fully check it out. Usually, I put on the movie or CD. I was waiting on the Bettie statue too but it seems to have missed Midtowncomics list for this week. Adam Hughes is supposed to be working on a Rocketeer print I thought. It still says coming soon on his website. But it's been like that for a year or so. Maybe next Comic Con they will finally have a new DVD or a Rocketpack prop which I still need...

My rocketpack has been laying under my bed for a year untouched haha..No time to dedicate to fixing it up..It is a lengthy process that I havent had much enthusiasm in doing....I think a mass produced rocketpack will never happen..It is too complicated...If they were mass-produce then I highly doubt it will be accurate...It will be too expensive to make a decent pack...Also, I dont have high hopes when it comes to rocketeer replicas...

Icons tried to make a helmet...they failed
Master Replicas tried to make a replica...they failed...You got a squished helmet..Dont get me wrong..it is a cool metal helmet, but you need to stand back a few feet...The prototype helmet they used in their false marketing ads is almost dead on...I own it, and it is a beautiful helmet....
Also, they tried making a statue which failed as well..It never saw production...I own that as welll, and I love the darn thing..wish i could get a stand for it...

A blueray dvd may not happen either...D23 (a disney club) showed the rocketeer at a really nice theater in los angeles..They had some disney archive workers there along with danny bilson...people were cheering for a blueray, but they never addressed it...I really dont think disney wants to put money into it anymore

Simply stunning. Man, I'd love to have half of that stuff.

thank you....I noticed how badly outdated my thread was right now....So I updated everything..I added a few new pictures of new items along with some movie props

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

I picked up a copy of the Artist's Edition myself but I'm saving it for my birthday so I haven't even opened it. That's sad isn't it? :$

Didn't realize you had gotten the MR prototype helmet, ER, very cool! If I had had the money back when it was available I probably would have nabbed that one myself. You are SO lucky I have two kids and a mortgage! :lol But seriously, I'm glad it's in good hands!

I didn't know the helmets were bad. That's good to know. I really wanted a pack more than anything. I think Master Replicas was talking about a Ghostbusters Proton pack before they went out of business/changed names. So I thought a rocketpack wasn't far behind. Oh well. Rocketeer needs a new DVD/Blu-ray release. Dave Stevens made it seem like he put a lot into the DVD before they cancelled it. Rocketeer is one of my favorite movies yet the transfer is probably the worst out of all the DVDs I own. It's almost a crime...

Astonishing Collection. Where in Orange County are you located? Would you like to meet and share information?

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

Amazing collection there, and one of my favourite movies.

I love the helmet. It is a shame MR didnt follow through and made helmets like the prototype. The helmet liner is even different. I am too selfish to have kids hahaha. When I decide to retire collecting, then I will start working on kids. I am still young, so I try to have fun.

here are pictures of the prototype statue and helmet at the New York Toy Fair. It was at the Master Replicas booth

I didn't see the most elusive, valuable Rocketeer collector's item in your collection...
http://spectregadget.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Rocketeercup1.png

:)

hahaha, That is a really rare item that I never seen before ;)
I doubt I will ever buy the cup. I am somewhat a germaphob so buying a cup some-one else drank out of is not for me hahaha

Yeah, the transfer was horrible. The Hallmark channel on cable tv will sometimes show the Rocketeer in HD. It is pretty clear and looks alot better than the horrible transfer they did with the dvd.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

ER, how do you feel about the all-metal Disney helmet?

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

EvilRocketeer, do you know how hard/common the Disney Store blueprints for the rocket pack are to find? I've been looking and haven't seen anything come up on them anywhere.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

I know you guys were asking ER but if I can be of help since ER is too busy to keep track of posts to his shameless, jealousy inducing show off thread ;) ...

Whoever, by "Disney helmet" do you mean the Master Replicas helmet? It's the only metal helmet ever made to my knowledge so I'm assuming that's what you're referring to. Master Replicas had the license from Disney so there isn't a "Disney" helmet per se... We've been discussing it pretty extensively in this thread however: http://www.therpf.com/f9/mr-rocketeer-helmet-94270/

Cheech, to my knowledge there are no "Disney Store" blueprints. There are copies of the blueprints seen in the movie floating around. Sometimes they show up on ebay but there's no officially licensed version of those so you're left with the options of waiting for them to show up on ebay or asking around here as you've just done, obviously. Unfortunately I haven't seen any on ebay in quite a while... It's possible somebody else here might know of a source and contact you. You can also post a "WTB" thread there.

Hope that helps...

Ah, I had found on one collectibles site that said the Hughes rocketpack prints like in post 1 pic 1 top middle were offered at one point through the Disney Store. Hence my reference to them that way. Onlinemetals.com just started carrying 7 inch 6061 aluminum tube.... it's really tempting to try and build a pack now vs trying to slip roll the tubes. Trying to track down an aluminum reflector that may work for the tips, or may try and contact a local metal spinning place over the winter.

Hmmm... I suppose it's possible they were offered through the Disney Store. I'm certainly not all-knowing so I can't say it's impossible.

Let me put it this way, if the blueprints ever were offered, I've never seen or heard of them in my decade of collecting Rocketeer stuff. At one point or another, just about everything hits ebay eventually and I've been doing daily "Rocketeer" searches faithfully for nearly the past decade (sad to say, I mean that quite literally).

ER might know differently if I'm wrong though and I've got one other source I can ask who would likely know if they were ever released through the Disney Store.

The only ones I'm personally aware of are the original production copies and copies made from those none of which were licensed to my personal knowlege...

So I'm inclined to think they were never offered officially, for whatever help that is.
