Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

Thank you every-one for all the comments! :thumbsup

You certainly live up to your name, EvilRocketeer. Posting that can only generate the sinful feeling of envy in any FinHeads who see it!

Amazing collection!

haha, thanks...I cant remember how I came up with the name evilrocketeer. Maybe, I couldnt think of anything else. I will be sure to use your comment to explain my name in the future.

Whoa, so THAT'S where that old thing ended up... what a shock to see a pic of it!

Excellent collection... :thumbsup

Did you make the fan-made pack? I got this pack maybe a year ago from a collector in west covina. He couldnt remember where he got it from.

Fantastic collection!!:eek
I would be proud to have 1/10 of that.
Do you have the 3-d comic book with "3-d audio" cassette or activity books that Golden Books put out with the eight pages of color pictures from the movie in the middle?
There was also a little plastic container that looked like the Rocketeer where you pull off the head to pour out the gum.

Wolf

I havent been able to purchase some comics or the candy items. I try to hold off on the knick knacks as of right now, so I can have more money to spend on the harder to find items. When I get to the point of not knowing what else to purchase, than I will start purchasing the knick knacks..As of right now, I want to get a more authentic jacket, fix up the acme rocket pack, and pay off my sideshow exclusive premium format figure..However, I do have some comics and Birthday Rocketeer Cards

What did you say your address was again? LOL

Haha, I guess it is time for me to change my location on my profile haha :lol

Please do! I think it's appropriate.

So, I was going to resist, but since someone else asked about specific items - do you have the tin (I think, metal of some kind in any case) square sign they put out at the time of the move? Yellow and brown/orange border, with artwork similar to the second print you've got above. I used to have it hanging behind my MEAGER, MEASELY, WORTHLESS collection! :lol I haven't seen it since my move a few years back - hopefully it's still with the rest of my bundled posters and frames.

Impressive collection for a great film. Thanks for sharing.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

Great pieces, alright!

I love that one-sheet; some of the best art, ever!

Where'd you get the blueprints?

haha, I'll add your quote to my signature if I can...

And I do not have the tin..I seen a few of them on the evilbay, but every time one came up..I would use my funds for another item...It has been a great year to be a rocketeer fan. This year alone had two books and several statues released...Hopefully a bluray collectors dvd will come out in 2011 for the 20th anniversary..I have my fingers crossed...The tin is on my list of knick knacks to get ....

Also, every collection has a beginning. It took me almost 7 years to get most of this stuff, and some items rarely pop up...The Bronze statue rarely pops up since there are not many out there (I was lucky to find one with all of the documents)...I think the hardest item to find was the production helmet. The second hardest item was The Lothars Layer Print...I only seen two of them the past several years..One was personalized to a guy name James and the second wasnt (the one I have) .It just takes time and patience...Oh and Money..Oh and networking helps..I recommend not to give up..

Also Wolf, I do have a Golden Book. I totally forgot I had it until I opened one of my boxes...

The Peevy sketch came from Rocketbobs..It is a direct copy of the production made one...

and I got the Howard Hughes Blue Print from the stage manager of the rocketeer..It was one of several items I received from him..

This is an awesome collection.

I love the Rocketeer. It's on my perpetual watch list.

Picked up the collection recently, but have not read it yet.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

Simply awe-inspiring!
I wish I had more money to invest in the hobby - The Rocketeer is in my top three favorate movies of all time and it deserves a special collection of items in my home as you have.
Keep on collecting my friend!

Oh, I'm not about to give up. For me it's more a matter of patience - eventually you find interesting stuff for prices you can .. I was going to say afford, but I think 'rationalize' may be a better choice. :lol

Also, it helps if you set yourself some goals. As someone who can get a little obsessive, I find it's good to decide up front what you are and are not going to collect.

For example, I have a large collection of Green Lantern rings - but I don't go in for the action figures or statues that don't also have rings, and I limit myself to officially licensed rings (otherwise I'd never see the end - though now that Arroba Silver got the license, I'm SOOO Far behind!).

Similarly with the Rocketeer, I got a bunch of stuff when the movie came out, but now I limit myself to things that will either help me complete a costume, or look good as a prop to go with the costume.

Or is a really good deal... :angel

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

I just love the iconography of The Rocketeer -
As it seems underrrated in just about every medium its really gratifying to see a collection like this!!
Well done sir!

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

Great collection; The Rocketeer is awesome!

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

I am in complete AWE bro that is one heck of a collection

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

Beautiful collection there, EvilRocketeer. I'm soooo envious of your Hughes blueprint. :thumbsup

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

Thank you guys for the comments..If any of you guys are in socal, jedifyfe planned a prop party in april..I will be bringing some of my items there..Not sure which ones as of right now

I know How you feel..The rocketeer is my favorite childhood movie followed by jurassic park..I got most of my funds by selling most of my other collections such as star wars, batman, ghostbusters, and decided to just focus on one collection. It was either have many collections or one great collection. Plus, every paycheck. I take 10% and throw it into my rocketeer fund haha..

Well, I try to keep things rational, but within the last month I made a lot of irrational decisions. I dont regret it, but when hard to find items show up out of the blue that are one of a kind or hard to find. I just cant resist.Even if I pay past my budget, I think in the end it is worth it..Maybe my obsessive side took over haha..Also, I had no gurantee the items would pop up again

Yeah, I am the same way. Right now, the knick knacks as in candy tops, pencil, folders etc etc will have to wait...Well, I bought something on thursday which I shouldnt have but couldnt resist..It is on the way as we speak..I think that will be the last rocketeer item I buy this year coughmonthcough. haha. I decided to take a break though from purchasing..

Beautiful collection there, EvilRocketeer. I'm soooo envious of your Hughes blueprint. :thumbsup

The stage manager made copies of the actual prop used on set.. He made copies for friends and family members. Once in a blue moon, one will show up on ebay..Most of the time they dont come with the documentation explaining history of the item, and details about the stage areas..

I know one sold on a prop website for a ridiculous price...I paid 1/15 than what it sold for..

Yes, it was originally mine... hadn't even thought about it in years. It was just a quick costuming pack... put it together with what I had to work with.

That is really cool. I am happy now that I finally found out who made it.

I like knowing the history of my items...who made them or how people obtain them or how long they even owned it....

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)

How about one of these for your collection??

H-4 Hughes Hercules Sproose Goose 1/72 Amodel 72030
GIANT AIRCRAFT! REAL MONSTER! SIZE 59 x 42 inch

Cool Idea. I have to add that to my list of items I would like to get.

I still need to get a geebee and autogyro. I havent found a decent geebee model yet.

Edit: Edit first post to include my second production helmet
