Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY)
Thank you guys for the comments..If any of you guys are in socal, jedifyfe planned a prop party in april..I will be bringing some of my items there..Not sure which ones as of right now
Simply awe-inspiring!
I wish I had more money to invest in the hobby - The Rocketeer is in my top three favorate movies of all time and it deserves a special collection of items in my home as you have.
Keep on collecting my friend!
I know How you feel..The rocketeer is my favorite childhood movie followed by jurassic park..I got most of my funds by selling most of my other collections such as star wars, batman, ghostbusters, and decided to just focus on one collection. It was either have many collections or one great collection. Plus, every paycheck. I take 10% and throw it into my rocketeer fund haha..
Oh, I'm not about to give up. For me it's more a matter of patience - eventually you find interesting stuff for prices you can .. I was going to say afford, but I think 'rationalize' may be a better choice. :lol
Also, it helps if you set yourself some goals. As someone who can get a little obsessive, I find it's good to decide up front what you are and are not going to collect.
:angel
Well, I try to keep things rational, but within the last month I made a lot of irrational decisions. I dont regret it, but when hard to find items show up out of the blue that are one of a kind or hard to find. I just cant resist.Even if I pay past my budget, I think in the end it is worth it..Maybe my obsessive side took over haha..Also, I had no gurantee the items would pop up again
Yeah, I am the same way. Right now, the knick knacks as in candy tops, pencil, folders etc etc will have to wait...Well, I bought something on thursday which I shouldnt have but couldnt resist..It is on the way as we speak..I think that will be the last rocketeer item I buy this year coughmonthcough. haha. I decided to take a break though from purchasing..
Beautiful collection there, EvilRocketeer. I'm soooo envious of your Hughes blueprint. :thumbsup
The stage manager made copies of the actual prop used on set.. He made copies for friends and family members. Once in a blue moon, one will show up on ebay..Most of the time they dont come with the documentation explaining history of the item, and details about the stage areas..
I know one sold on a prop website for a ridiculous price...I paid 1/15 than what it sold for..
