and I want to replace the hex screws. I was able to find and bought theses ones:

but later I realized that the don't have a step, they should be conical. Do you know where I can find those?

I don't think anyone has. Maybe you could chuck it in a drill to use as a makeshift lathe to reduce the step with a needle-file. I reduced the step by hand using only a needle file and nothing else, but that took a while.
Be careful so you don't slip and expose the brass underneath the chrome.

I have that same saber, it's my costume one.

I removed the allen head screws and found some with a smaller head in the same length and thread.

Then I cut some LED bezels, JB Welded them to the top of the allen head screws, and used a wrench down the LED hole to tighten them up on the saber.

Last, I used hot glue down the LED hole. let it dry, and cut the top smooth to simulate the LED.

It's the saber in back:

Well, thanks for the advice. I usually prefer found objects, this is why I bought those ones. According to the spec, that step could be .5mm, which is not too much, but I and you will notice them. I guess they will look better than those Allen screw right? Since they were shipped today from UK to USA and I will have to forward them to Argentina, could take a while after I replace them. If I or anyone find accurate ones, please let us know. :love

On my saber, the LED bezels are real, similar to yours, I just cut off everything except the part you see and glued (JB Weld) them to a different allen screw so I could screw them down in the same hole.

Very cool! I also seem to have the same saber. I really like it, but I'd kinda like to change a few things, too.

I know it's not much of a difference, but my understanding was always that the LED bezels were 10 mm in diameter, not 9.5 mm like Maplin says. (Yes, like most people here, I'm unnecesarily anal. :D) I have a hardware Adi Gallia tutorial that suggested getting the bezels from bivar.com, although you have to buy them in bulk. I haven't checked into them, might be the same size as the ones you're getting.

I've considered epoxy puttying bezel parts onto cut up screws, but haven't gotten that far, yet.

If you figure out a good way of disassembling this saber further without damaging it, could you let us know? Cuz, some of us wanna!

Great Obi Wan sabers. Who made the one in the foregound?

According to this photo:
secretpics2fk7.jpg

The bezel has almost 1mm to the line. I measured my hex screw and it is 9mm diameter. So If I put a 10mm bezel, the bezel will repose over the line ruining completely the look of the saber. Seems to me that the machinist failed at that detail or misplaced the hex screw. So a 9.5mm diameter bezel will work great for my saber as well for any other guy having the same one. Here is a photo showing the detail I am talking about:

I'd be interested in a Adi Gallia hardware tutorial...

And good luck with this Diego!

Behold!

I'm not sure who made this tutorial. If they want it taken down - or credited - let me know! I tried to find this somewhere still in an active thread, but had no luck.

I started on this a long time before I found this tutorial. For the cone shaped end, I'm planning on using a segment of a white plastic cone I got from a candy & cake specialty store. It's meant to be covered in green frosting to simulate an evergreen, but it's a handy little cone thing. I think the angles are a little bit closer to being correct than the one in the tutorial.

Show us some pics, if you decide to build this.

Don't worry about it, E-Wan, happens all the time! :lol

And yeah, T.R.E., I was also kinda noticing the LED placement not being the best relative to the lines cut in the crown. I haven't tried to replace the allen nuts on mine yet either, but it did look like the LEDs would overlap the line. Bummmer.

Interesting to see the close-up of the tire valve stem again. In a mutant Obi-Wan saber I did years ago, I just used a small purple plastic bead from a pen in the valve stem, but it really does look like an amethyst. Hurm....

Coolness! Both yours and the original look to be facet cut, not cabochon cut. True?

This confused me. From every reference photo I've seen, the original did not have a gem in it. It was a hemisphere that was painted purple (much like James Kenobi 1138's).

Actually the only photo showing that kind gem is the one at the top of the page. Don´t have another one to compare.:$
