My COMPLETED Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver collection......for now;)

Re: Question about which Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers to buy......

Davison's sonic was destroyed in his fourth story, "The visitation", so he hasn't had it for long. But he waved it around in "Four to doomsday" almost as much as Baker in a whole season :)

Your 3rd, 4th and River Song sonics are the new releases?

Ah. That's cool. At least he HAD one. I was always disappointed that so few did. "...Almost as much as Baker in a whole season":lol

The River Song is the first release- red+yellow package. 3rd and 4th are the new releases, in the small packages. I've opened everything but hers.

not as dissapointed as I was when I saw how Colin Baker's sonic lance looks like. Very cheap looking stuff. Still, if they would release a CO version, I would probably buy it :p

Re: Question about which Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers to buy......

A question that I think fits this topic: what are you using to display these sonics? Obviously I don't want to order some custom made display which would cost more than the toys themselves (I would if I had a high end replica). But I don't want to simply put them on the shelf, or leaving them in the packaging doesn't work either (some of the packages are a bit worn and I like to randomly pick them up time to time).
Currently I'm using a cheap acrylic pen display which can hold 8 pens (horizontally, but I'm only using one side cause otherwise it wouldn't look good and I only have 4 sonics so far) and it's not bad, only problem is that I had to saw it a littlebit (it can't take much, fragile stuff) so all the sonics can fit to the wholes, but the classic ones lay a bit tilted.
Any suggestions?

Re: Question about which Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers to buy......

I don't know exactly what I'm going to do, yet, but I have a good idea- I plan on using some sort of clear lexan "rack". With circular holes at the base, and half circle cutouts on a higher piece- so the sonics are all tilted back but vertical, side by side. Like a miniature pool cue rack. I'll probably machine something at work- we have 3/8 thick lexan.

Not sure about found items, though. I did a quick search, and acrylic lipstick or sunglass stands popped up. There's an option.

I thought the circular one looked a bit Tardis-y. ;)

That's cool, unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to do that.

The ones you attached are too small, I have this one and it seemed big enough but only the 10th sonic can fit comfortably in it.

Re: Question about which Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers to buy......

I use these pen stands that I got from ebay:

They work for the CO screwdrivers as well.

Re: Question about which Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers to buy......

See, that's EXACTLY what I plan to do. Nice!

Re: Question about which Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers to buy......

Would love to see the eBay link to the pen stand! :)

Thanks!
Well he doesn't ship overseas but now at least I know this display would work, I always thought the cutouts would be too small.

The listing asks overseas bidders to email for carriage costs so it might be worthwhile getting in touch with him :)

If he doesn't, I can measure the cutouts for you if that'll help :thumbsup

Thanks, even if don't order it right now, that would help, so I will know that if all the sonics would fit in.

Re: Question about which Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers to buy......

The cutouts have a diameter of 1.5cm. A diameter of 2cm or larger would be better to be honest. A lot of the sonics I have are slightly too wide to fit in properly. But they are secure enough and do look good.

Re: Question about which Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers to buy......

Excellent! If they are secure and stand nicely, that's enough for me. Thank you again!

The only ones that are a little wobbly are the Who Store static sonics I have, but the others are fine. It took me a while to find something decent to display them on so I'm happy to help. Now if I could find someone that made lightsaber stands in the UK...
