My COMPLETED Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver collection......for now;)

Re: Starting my Doctor Who sonic collection....

If CO would make a sonic lance toy I think that would be the rare case when the toy would look better than the actual prop. :D

Re: Starting my Doctor Who sonic collection....

Good question. My assumption........ is that since the whole Tom Baker/Jon Pertwee piece is already molded in red (for the sake of the outer ring), they just saved money by simply taking existing parts in production, and reworking ( cutting and drilling) them. Paint it black just as with the other ones.

My guess is actually if they had to incorporate the LED feature, that section was moulded in two parts to make assembly easier. The Baker sonic was a tough - rubber stalk.

Re: Starting my Doctor Who sonic collection....

Well, I decided that I was suddenly obsessed with Troughton's sonic.......pen.......light........AFTER deciding that I'd never collect it.:lol

So.......I made a "plug" for the first Sonic slot, both raising the sonic and making the base hole smaller. I moved the 3rd and 4th sonics over one spot. Good thing I made a spot for the sonic lance. If they ever do it, I'll just figure out something.;)

The sonic itself is 12mm Stainless tubing, with a 2mm wall, making the thru hole 8mm and a bit heavy for its size. The blue portions are some random blue Delrin I found, cut, and pressed onto and into it. The "bulb" is a clear acrylic rod I cut from a cat toy.:lol Just some tape to make it snug, in case I decide to change something........

I know the feeling :D
But I'm not sure whether the plastic piece was part of the prop or not. It definitely should have a clip but maybe the pastic was removed.

Re: Starting my Doctor Who sonic collection....

Tough, I like it.:lol I wanted to add color to it, since it looks so sterile next to Liberace's over there. :lol

And I'm not going to add a clip......I hate looking at it and thinking 'wow....a penlite....yay'. That pocket clip takes me right out of the movie, as they say. I mean, I know it was a penlite, but I want it to at least look like a sonic.

Thought I would let you know about this:

Re: Starting my Doctor Who sonic collection....

Yes! Thank you. Been looking out for those..........obsessively.:lol

Re: Starting my Doctor Who sonic collection....

I just pre ordered them- Thanks for the link.:) $33 before shipping, for both the 5th and 8th Doctors' sonics! Not bad, considering you pay $25-35 for each sonic, usually. Esp. on ebay.

What a nerd I am that toys get me this excited........but unlike Hasbro lightsabers, the CO sonics are fairly accurate. Not to mention the fact that the John Hurt other doctor sonic sort of made the toys accurate as far as props go. The only other "toys" that I would probably compare to the sonics as far as collectability and accuracy are concerned, are probably the Playmates phasers.

LOL- Thank you:) Yeah, anticipating the 5th and 8th Doctors' sonics was pretty cool. I got as excited as I do with some Batmobiles......I never thought they'd do them. It is so cool just looking at them, and seeing the "history" from one Doctor to the other. Yeah, they're "just toys".....but I'm past the need to have all machined stuff. Plus, John Hurt's WAS a toy.....so that drags the rest into continuity;)

I recently acquired two 'dummy' 9th/10th Doctor Sonics (basically, the cores have been gutted) from a convention dealer and would like to get a couple of replacement cores. Can anyone recommend where/who/how? I e-mailed CO several months back but have received no reply as yet, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello. Long time Whovian, recent RPF-er (made a new word). I've seen the War Doctor''s screwdriver. And it looks robust, and like a combat tool than a screwdriver. I took a fancy to it, and in that I've looked at some reviews of the War Doctor toy from Character Options and Underground toys. Both look well, but I was wondering if there was a much higher quality War Doctor screwdriver

I saw a review of an all metal war sonic on YouTube by votesaxon, but can't remember who made it. I do remember that there was no light or sound, but was hollow enough to have electronics installed, plus there was an led in the tip that just wasn't hooked up to anything.(that even lit red when tested if I remember right)

Just looked at the video, and it was RB replicas.
