movies you like that everyone else hates

DOOM. I don't get why it gets so much hate. Karl Urban is awesome and its nice seeing The Rock play a space marine. Even if the movie DID have Hell in it, people would still find reasons to hate it.

Also, Prometheus. I friggin' love that movie.

Many will disagree, but Cyborg is one of my favorite Van Damme movies

I hope to get a directors cut someday

And I thought Ledger was incredibly one dimensional...and I get that he is supposed to be the "strong, silent type" guy, but something about it just didn't click for me.
I'm not ashamed to admit, I had to watch that movie with subtitles on. And it wasn't because I'm hard of hearing! Heath was quite the mumbler in that movie!:lol

Love Demolition Man, and sorta like the first Dredd movie.

On the flip side, utterly hate Never Ending Story. What a horrible piece of garbage.

I honestly do not know why. But, alot of people hate Armageddon. I love the movie I found the parts to be emotionally moving especially with Chic and his son, makes me well up every time.

I also loved Tron Legacy. I loved the storyline the acting and the amazing conclusion. But, I see legacy haters all over the place. However, I also do not like Scarface in the slightest and I have heard that is the go to guy film or the Godfather Part 2. To each their own I guess.

Nemesis - Come on, it's Star Trek!
Prometheus - You can't tell me the Alien saga was bad
Starship Troopers - Do you want to know more?
Death Becomes Her - Something about the walking dead in Beverly Hills is just so perfect

The old memory is foggy but there is a long list.

In 1982 Blade Runner would have been at the top of my list. So many people were disappointed it wasn't another Indiana Solo film. People griped that it was slow and boring. I was flabbergasted that people didn't see what I saw in that movie.

Frederick Wiseman's "documentaries" - without narration or music, some of his best work is absolutely engrossing. "Zoo" was the first one I saw and was hooked.

Star Wars Ep 1: The Phantom Menace - it wasn't great, but it wasn't all bad. With Jedi being as awful as it was, my expectations were pretty low.
Here's the breakdown for me:
SW = 10/10
ESB = 9.5/10
ROTJ = 0/10
TPM = 6.5/10
AOTC = 1/10
ROTS = 1/10

the first Dredd movie.

It's funny... I watched Dredd (2012) and loved it!

"Judge Dredd" (1995) was on sale at Best Buy (and I had not watched it since it was the theater) so I thought "why not?" :lol

Truthfully- I got a kick out of it! Yeah it's "not" really Judge Dredd, however I found it to be entertaining for a typical mid-nineties action/comic relief film.

Final Fantasy: the spirits within. Considering the development hell that took place as they were trying to make it (rewrites to material they already animated and then a total abandonment of the original story) it could have been worse and it was one of the first cgi movies with characters that almost make you forget they're fake. A guy who went to the art institute of pittsburgh worked on it and brought in sketches of the early stuff and it looked amazing. Sadly nothing of it got used, it had a very Final Fantasy 7 feel to it originally. This movie marked everything Square touched turning crappy.

You stay away from my childhood!

Next people are going to tell me Dark Crystal and Nausica of the Valley sucked!

While I love The Neverending Story I did watch it more recently and it doesn't really hold up to be honest. :(

The story is still fantastic and it's well acted. There are some scenes that still really stick with you. But overall the effects hold it back.

Wow...

Granted, ROTJ was the weakest of the OT but a 0???? And TPM gets a 6.5???? Yikes.

While I agree that the movie doesn't hold up well, I often use these movies as a platform for my kids to enjoy what I enjoyed when I was younger.

And to test the waters! I slipped in some Godzilla the other day and my kids were going nuts! My daughter was cracking some seriously funny jokes ala MST 3000...:lol
