movies you like that everyone else hates

It was just a love story:love...

With Rhinestone Cowboys.:lol

As a gay man myself, I think the film got more fluff for being a "gay cowboy movie" than for how it actually told the story. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm glad the culture is coming to a place where a film like that can get mainstream audience; and the narrative is a powerful narrative; but I feel there were missteps in telling that story.

i.e. how they magically end up having sex after knowing each other for like half a day.

And I thought Ledger was incredibly one dimensional...and I get that he is supposed to be the "strong, silent type" guy, but something about it just didn't click for me.

Then again, I saw the movie in my western films class, and my professor raved about it, so what the heck do I know? :lol

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

A near universally hated comic book film.

But are you honestly telling me that Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth is inferior to Tyler Mane's from the first X-Men movie?

I might give this a rewatch before the new Wolverine film comes out.

Film Professors love the worst freakin' movies, don't they? I had one that gave me a load of crap when he eavesdropped on a friend of mine and I talking about the first Highlander film. I showed up at his office door a few hours later with a copy of it and told him his assignment was to find the elements of Beowulf they snuck into it. He balked but did so. I had class with him two days later and asked him if he'd watched it yet and he admitted to having watched it 4 times in a row. First was to rip it to shreds but slowly he got past his prejudices (probably because Uta Hagen wasn't in it, I'd bet) and found it an enjoyable film where, beneath the schlock, there was actually an interesting story.

It took three more weeks to get my movie back from him.

Excellent job, sirrah! Here, have an internet.

Though to be frank, There Should Have Been Only One.

We've been there for awhile actually - or are you forgetting this guy?

It's still the longest running film in history. Granted it didn't smash any records when it came out - but it was Held Over and continued playing in theaters forever.

You are very right about it being the longest running film in history. If I'm not mistaken, it has been shown continuously since its premier in 1975, making for a quite commanding 37 (going on 38) year run in the theaters.

Every time I see this question, two titles immediately come to mind:

Daredevil
Over The Top

Dunno if I can really defend either, but I love 'em just the same.

The Matrix Trilogy
Demolition Man
Batman Forever
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Superman Returns
Starship Troopers
Halloween remake
Nightmare on Elms Street remake
Pathfinder
Ghostbusters 2
Van Helsing
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Bicentennial Man
Roger Moore as James Bond

...and I'm sure there are more, but that's what I can think of at the moment.

EDIT: I'll add in Rocky Horror Picture Show - I always liked the movie, I love it even more now that I had a chance to perform, as Dr. Everett Scott, in the stage musical that my college put on.

About the Rocky Horror Picture Show... I absolutely love the movie and fanbase. i have a replica FrankNFurter costume ill glady post here.

If anyones heard of Pootie Tang, ill laugh at that movie all day even if everyone else walks out on it. Its so proudly stupid and absurd you cant help but give it a chance.

Please do! :thumbsup

RHPS has a huge fan base. I'd hardly call it a film that "everyone else hates". :)

I feel like RHPS isnt a love or hate thing, just more of a you get it or you dont kind of movie. The "show" itself is something you gotta get attatched to, if youre brave enough to play the virgin games >:D

Woah woah woah! There are people who don't like these films?
I've never seen The Ten Commandments (religious epics ain't my thang), but I tried to watch Napoleon Dynamite once. After fifteen minutes I decided I'd rather have root canal on every tooth in my head without the benefit of novocaine while rats gnawed on my testicles.

:lol

TTC is a cinematic masterpiece if you can get around the subject matter. ND starts off rough but it REALLY grew on me. :D

SW EP 1. I don't know what it was about QuiGon Jinn that made me like Liam Neeson's movies. It also has my favorite Sith. I actually like JarJar too as I think of him as the Goofy of Star Wars. lmao f-in' George Lucas. :D
