MonsterMan Thoughts Feelings and Reviews (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Yeah, it was sadly the better episode. They were still screwing around, more drama, same ol, and Cleve has an oversight of making the suit able to breathe... I facepalmed at that.

Also, you're right, how can they promote themselves with the show, when it shows nothing but drama and them being late?

I don't see this lasting another season.

This show dissapoints me...
He claims to work with the "best in the business" - his two grunge daughters, his ex-wife and two guys I never heard of.
To me, making such a claim is a slap in the face to really top-shelf companies like Stan Winston Studios and the like.
The work that comes out of this show is really nothing spectacular, I've seen better work come from RPF members.
The work coming out of MonsterMan looks rather plain and cheap and very basic when it comes to special effects.
That being the case, we need to start our own show called "PropMasters"
I'd watch the crap out of that!

From what I have heard who are familiar with SOTA, the name stands for "**** of the Arts" by a number of people in the industry.

i cant believe they're trying to say they only had a week to work on that monster suit, if you've been paying attention this season you could have seen the suit half completed in the background in just about every episode!! the show is complete crap but i do have to say that the monster suit was ok before it started falling apart and nearly killed him xD but it seemed like too much of a Godzilla rip off...

I'm pretty sure the only reason this dunce is even on TV is because his company was probably the only one that didn't tell syfy to **** off.

Well, I can't blame them for the 6 hours of my life lost, that was my own stupidity. But I'm thankful this season (and most likely series) is over. Only because so rarely are makeup/effects ever covered outside of DVD extras, I felt the need to give it a try. The 'Godzilla' monster turned out OK for a video shoot, but the few minutes that troll-ish red headed woman was on screen, offended nearly all of my senses. The one thing I came away with was the fact that I felt kind bad for DEVO.

He looks like he should be hosting late night monster movies on cable access.

From the few episodes I've watched, although I probably couldn't do the job myself, I find his stuff mediocre at best. I guess if you're making a movie for a few $100 bucks, and you need a "monster" , and want to spend next to nothing for it, Cleve's your man!

In a way, I don't blame SyFy for not getting bigger name studios involved because anything involving a major movie is usually kept private unless the studio chooses to release the information. With production taking 1-2 years (sometimes) on a movie, they wouldn't be able to show anything until the movie was released, and that stuff usually ends up on the extras on the DVD/Blu-ray anyway.

Most of the stuff I've seen on this show really makes practical effects look bad. I am a huge lover of practical effects and would a somewhat fake looking practical effect over a completely fake looing CGI effect anyday, but the stuff they put together on this show looks like these guys are more about paying tribute to old movies than they are about making the effects look good. In this day and age, we have the technology to make really good looking practical effects.. How did this Monster Man's business get a show?

I dont buy the whole week/few day deadline. I too say it in the backround alot

Why was the Asian guy walking around with a bloody knife on his back? Is he expecting to get ambushed by ninja dwarves?

According to Rolling Stone, Syfy approached Devo to make that song for the show. Have to wonder how many of the others are like that as well.

This is something I wondered about a lot of cable shows, if they subsidise any of the sales or projects or services in the shows. I love watching shows like American Restoration, and see how much these guys pay for having things restored. I some times wonder if the producers contribute to the payment to have these items restored to get a steady flow of projects for the show.

I could see SyFy getting some of these "B" movie guys to throw something to Cleve just to have something for the show. I would almost be willing to bet, none of the supposed "productions" he's made monsters for will even show up on video....maybe You Tube, but, that's it...

The moment they mentioned that Devo had created a new song called Monster Man that "clearly had nothin to do with the show" I called bull****.

I don't think it's fair to pick on Cleave, guys. The Monster Suit looked amazing but I am a firm believer in "You get what you pay for." In low-budget film-making your practical effects artists are losing out to CGI. Higher budget productions use practical effects because they can afford to but in Low Budget when money matters it's sometimes too easy to go for the cheaper CGI model-work than the actual prop and monster.

The werewolf movie he worked on had a real IMDB listing. Other then that I have no proof if the movie is real or not.
