Modified Snow Wolf Pulse Rifle Completed

Re: Majenko Pulse Rifle Soundboard Installation

Getting ready to do some wiring. For all the sound effects I'll be using momentary lever switches. However, for the main PR trigger I'll wire the Thompson's trigger directly to the board. To do that we have to take the gearbox out of the receiver to get to some wires. When you remove the fire selector and safety switches make sure you don't loose the little brass pins under them.

Here we see what it looks like out of the receiver. Apiece of tape on the other side holds the plastic parts so they don't fall off.

We want the two red wires. We don't need the black wire and the fuse anymore. You can cut those off.

This is what you want to be left with. Two red wires. They will need to be extended to reach the board though. I actually may replace them with a smaller gauge wire before all is said and done.

Stick it all back together. Make sure you don't loose any of the tiny parts.

Re: Majenko Pulse Rifle Soundboard Installation

Now you got my attention, like to see hoe this is done on an airsoft with the trigger assembly to activate...so far so good....

Re: Majenko Pulse Rifle Soundboard Installation

Thanks guy. I didn't strip down to the trigger as I have already done it on my last PR, so I know how it's set up. The trigger has on it a metal contact, when you pull the trigger it touches another metal contact. These are what the red wires attach to. Basically the trigger is the on/off switch. These two red wires will go to the trigger switch on the board.
Guy, if you have any airsoft questions just let me or Cesquared know. I see he has been into airsoft as long as I have, close to 20 years for me.

After I'm done with the PR, you should see what I have planned next...

Re: Majenko Pulse Rifle Soundboard Installation

I appreciate that Rob, I don't own any airsoft gun at all , but if I ever get a Matrix, I will know what I am doing after looking at your mods....I will look into it later, but my health is being delt with again at the moment, hoping to do more the later part of the year....you know medical stuff adds up as we get older...lol

Re: Majenko Pulse Rifle Soundboard Installation

Update Time!
Got the board wired up today and the mag insertion switch installed. Wiring the board was a snap. On to the pictures!

Here she is, all wired up. I wanted to color code each different switch. I didn't have enough different colors though. Oh well.

And we have POWER!!!!

Here the board is hot glued in place. Fits great!

This is how the wires will run, in general.

And here the cover has been screwed back on. You can see the lever switch on the bottom of the mag well.

Another test to make sure everything so far still works. It was cool to see the 99 pop up and then run down to 95! I'm really liking this so far. Oh, and display is brighter than the stock display.

Stay tuned for more excitement...

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

Ok... Got my Matrix PR today. This thing is amazing.
I read all the booklets it came with (spared no expense. Hi quality color... Very nice).
I'm reading the instructions to load the magazine and it says to load the BBs into the charger. I don't see a charger anywhere in the box. Am I missing something? It came with a cleaning/charging rod. No charger that I can see though.

Also says the magazine is capable of holding 60 rounds. I thought it held as many as the counter will count... 95. No?

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

It holds 160. The "charger" (loading tube) is for standard or mid-cap mags.

Just flip open the little hatch on the top of the magazine and pour the BB's in. Wind the bottom wheel of the mag as much as you can. Then load the mag back into the gun.

More than likely you'll only fire 5-10 rounds before it dry fires. It's not a great mag. If you are able to fire more than that, you're lucky.

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

So wait... I should have bought a different mag too? --- Scratch that... I figured it out. Not sure exactly how much I poured in. Didn't really matter since either the battery drained out or something else is wrong. I popped about 10 rounds or so and it stopped cycling. It's not dry firing... it's just not doing anything. I'm guessing the crappy "test" battery that came with it drained out that quick. I had it on the charger for about 4.5 hours.

Overall this thing is sick. I could easily leave it how it is... eventually I'll probably get bold and put some silver "wear" paint on it and I think I'd like to try the mod on the GL handle. Not crazy about how loose it is.

How do you let the spring tension out of the magazine? --- Scratch that too... just moved that feed lip and it spat all the BBs out.

Yes, that is how crappy the stock battery is. Did it start making a "wurp" sound when it stopped shooting BBs? Buy a 9.6v battery and charger and you will be good to go.
The gun does not come with the little hand held BB loading tool. Evike sells them for about $3. But yeah, it's easier to just dump in the BB's. In a Mid Cap mag you have to "press" the BBs in as they don't have an open well to dump them in. The only problem for us is they don't make a "short" Mid Cap to use with our gun. You would have to modify one like I did in my modification thread. You could use a stock length Mid Cap but you wouldn't be able to attach the base.

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

I like the hi-cap just for the open cap well to pour them in.

How do you know if a fuse is blown and how do you get to it to replace it?

Thanks again for all the help.

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

The fuse is located in the grenade launcher section. Check your book and this thread for tips on getting it open.

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

How about getting a magazine unjammed?
I turned the wheel but it's not popping BBs into the feed tube. I also can't "untension" it.

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

To un-tension the mag, take a thin screwdriver or something similar, and pry back the little tab that is holding the top BB in the mag. If the mag is wound up, when you pry back the tab all the BBs in the feed tube should spray out the top and the mag should unwind. Now, your not supposed to be able to over wind one of these mags by design. But if that doesn't work, you may have a problem with your mag. Try that and let me know what happens.

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

No worky. It worked the first time I did it. But now it's not. I rewound it and tried that and nothing.

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

You may have to open the mag. There may be something broken inside. Stand by for a PM.

Re: Majenko Pulse Rifle Soundboard Installation

Time for another update. I got my new firmware loaded so I can turn up the gain on the board for a slightly louder speaker.

Here we have the lever switch installed, but not wired yet, inside the SPAS cage. And then a shot from the outside.

The lever itself will be covered with a bit of shrinkwrap. When the pump handle is racked it will slide over the switch triggering the racking sound from the soundboard.

This toy gun from the dollar store will sacrifice it's trigger for the GL. This one actually screws together so I didn't have to worry about breaking the gun apart and possibly damaging the trigger.

A section of aluminum tube is glued in a hole in the trigger. Two sections of plastic tube that fit over the aluminum tube are cut so the trigger can rock back and forth.

A notch is cut in the SPAS to allow the trigger to fit thru. The plastic tubes are JB Welded in place. Before the Weld sets the trigger is installed and alignment is checked.

The lever switch will be screwed to this plastic block. When the trigger is pulled it will actuate the lever and trigger the GL firing sound.

Re: Matrix Pulse Rifle Mods- Now w/video! Really

Some guys over on ALIENS Legacy are talking to Evike about doing a bulk order of mag bases. If there is enough interest they may order jst a bunch of mag bases for us.
