Hey all, I wanted a pulse rifle prop and decided the best option was to get an airsoft version (Snow Wolf/Evike Matrix)...thought about the HCG stunt pulse rifle, but I wanted one with "working" parts that was closer to the hero version. This was my first time painting/modding a prop...overall it was a fun process and I'm happy with the result.
I replaced the dummy shotgun shell in the grenade launcher compartment with a 3D printed version from Etsy (thankfully it fit perfectly), and gave it a more metallic paint job. Also added a data plate (Etsy again) below the ammo counter, and while not screen accurate, thought it would look good. The shroud color (Rustoleum Camouflage Flat Earth Brown) is a bit darker than Brown Bess, but seemed like a good enough shade to go with. For the display space I added dog tags for William Hudson (one of my fave characters from the film, RIP Bill Paxton), a US Colonial Marines patch, some extra M40 grenades, and an Aliens clapperboard from Magnoli Props.
I'd like to attach a sling, does anyone know where I can find a rear sling adapter to use? I see that a user here, Aaron Horrocks, had made some that worked really well...I found his Etsy page but he doesn't have any listed...messaged him there but haven't heard back. As for the front sling attachment point, it seems the barrel vent could work, but maybe there's a better option.
