MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *Finished pics pg 5*

Doing those shins looks like that's going to be a challenge.

I have an idea on how i'm going to do them. I need my tabi boots to get here to make sure it will work. The suit and tabi boots were shipped today. Ill most likely make the templates for shins tomorrow and get those plates knocked out. That way the plating will be done when the suit and all I gotta do is finish putting everything together. Im going to leave the heel plate off so I have some better ankle movement.

Thanks again sakin for the screenshots!

Side note.. I added all the divots today.. Ill post some pics here in a little bit.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *A lil Update

Always been a Street Fighter fan, well game play wise. However, characters like these are what make Mortal Kombat so cool. Their character designs are better than Street Fighter.

Looks like your do this costume justice, awesome work.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *A lil Update

as promised here are a some divots. I used a old set of 2 in 1 Snap Pliers I had lying around to make 95% of the divots(beats using a hammer and a center punch). The flash washes out alot of the black that is over the silver. I need to make the paint look sootier(it's Smoke after all), and seal the plates. It might be a couple days before an update. I have somethings I need to take care of here around the house now that my daughters home. the next update will be a nice one. :)

Divots Galore. (my hand is sore..that was an unintentional rhyme:lol)

I'm a fan of both, have been since they both first came out in arcade. I ain't gonna lie..had a Chun Li thing for a while... I agree with you about MK's character design, so much more love put in to the MK characters.

Thanks for the kinds words, my first time working with sintra and foam. again thanks!

The divots just made this real.
I'm so glad you're a night owl like me. I like seeing these update at this hour lol.

Yeah man' the divots really pull the whole thing together. Right now Im attaching the ab plates to the torso (already did the paldrons), putting jy masks together, and I just made some gladiator paldrons for a local costumer im teaming up with on a few commission costumes. After i deliver the pauldrons i made, ill be loading up on small details for this costume(those little buckles, leather stuff.. ect) Tomorrow evening should be an upper body test fit if the ninja suit I ordered gets here.

cant wait to see it put together. man you work fast!

Youll catch a glimps tonight of the ab plates attached. Alotta planning and winging it. I tend to rush things a bit. Since this costume is basically for me, im gonna fly through it. If it was for someone else I would go back and re do somethings.

I was thinking about splattering some blood on the suit when its finished...you know..mortal kombat and all. Yes/no?

I think I'm going to do it..it is Halloween after all. I'll probably suit up and have my fiance throw fake blood or something similar on me. It's just too clean right now..needs blood and more soot

Here the torso..:love Coming together..I'm going to line the inside of the torso with some black material, to class up the place.

Yeah i see that lil piece of duct tape. I wouldnt worry bout that little guy..:lol

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *added a lil more detail

Busy day in the shop today! I made the shin guards, got masks ready for the mail tomorrow and classed up the gauntlets with some felt. Also talked with a local friend of mine who has offered to make me a balaclava and tabards out of some black textured leather or faux elephant skin. I think the texture of the leather make this costume really stand out. The guy does fantastic costume work. Tomorrow I'll head over there and see what we can do to get the ball rolling on that.

I think im pretty much done with the sintra part of this build. Just waiting on the mail...

Thanks for looking..well..reading!:)

Shin plates front and back. (notice the flex in the spine plates to the right?)
