MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *Finished pics pg 5*

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *chest plate Updated

i personally cut the sintra with a bandsaw, and use a heat gun on small areas at a time, to gradually shape things to the perfect shape.

also i tend to find i need to consider the eventual shape when working with the stuff, if there is a large curve it's almost better to build things like you see pepakura plans, heat, bend and join edges together, then glue them with super glue and gap fill with epoxie or bondo.

Excellent tips man thanks! The curves of the chest plate were/are giving me hell. I'm still not satisfied with them, maybe after etching in the armor details into the sintra i can reach satisfaction. and dude... your NCR Vet Armor is F-ing B to the A! Excellent job man! Fallout is one of my top 3 games always in rotation.

Bumping this off of Page 4 I'm eager to see a update.

Sorry for the lack of an update today, I just got home from driving 7 hrs to pick up my kids for the weekend(ex refused to meet half way unless i pay the full CS amount in cash when i met her..can you say "extortion"!). My 2 little Jedi just crashed out, so I'm heading out to the shop now to breakdown noob/smoke mask mold and cut out a gauntlet(will post pics). Also after i submit my order to amazon ill post pics of whats on the way. :thumbsup

Quake, this is really taking shape man. My Friend loves MK characters, he's gonna flip when he sees this all done.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *chest plate Updated

Thanks man! I can't wait to get all the plating done so that i can put the detail into the sintra. Hell, I can't wait to finish the whole thing! I'm hoping to get a couple weeks of leg sweeps, uppercuts, and jump kicks in before halloween, you know..durability tests..yeaaah..tests...:lol

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *chest plate Updated

I know I started doing a bit of sculpting yesterday I don't know why but I've gotten the urge to sculpt the hood for the head. It's a pretty simple sculpt but I'm thinking of doing it in latex.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *chest plate Updated

looking good man. Props to you. I have always favored Smoke over the rest. However Reptile would have to be a close second for me.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *chest plate Updated

ok cut out the gauntlets, gave them some shape and a test fit. Will have to trim the edges so they come together evenly when i strap them to my arms.

Test fit.

Im very very interested on how it turns out man, Let me know! I've been looking at balaclavas but nothing has jumped out at me yet.

Reptile has always been one of my favorites too, I've thought about making the mask from mk9 but, of course id have to sculpt the face because he is... well.. a reptile. It's in my "possible future projects" pile. First this costume, then my fiance's.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *chest plate Updated

Not quite as for reptile you could easily just do it with just store bought makeup, tempting to make a tutorial on doing it. Mainly just green paint and working with a makeup pencil and the right amount of shading.

Make up would do it, no doubt. but latex would be niiice.:love especially cause then you can offset the eyes to the side.

Added ties that will bind to the gauntlets. the hand plate will most likely be attached by a piece of elastic.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *Gauntlets Added

My daughter went to her friends house for a little bit and my son was taking a nap so I decided to start adding some detail. there was a few slip ups here and there, I'm sure I can fix em with a lil bondo. After that I sprayed a base of flat black on everything to see what needs to be fixed before I paint the metallic.

Sorry for the crappy cell pics. I'll have better pics up tomorrow evening.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *A lil Update

You are flying! I'm seriously exited about this build.

I liked it since I saw the picture of what you were making.

Re: MK9 Smoke Costume WIP *A lil Update

Starting to get exciting! Once I get the torso hard parts painted, it's time to put it all together.

but before that divots or studs, divots or studs? Leaning toward divots.

I haven't seen that style before. I was planning on using a sleeveless under armor shirt and maybe a balaclava. I'm gonna have to check in to these. thanks for the lead bro! I ordered the classic ninja suit from amazon, I plan on using the pants as .. well.. pants. :lol the top I might strip down the seams and use the material to make the tabards. I'm going to check out the mask that comes with it too, to see if i want to use it or go with something else. Thanks again man!
