MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

So I will need to fill in the recesses on the board that currently have the pink velcro before I install this kit so the decal lies flat right? Any ideas on what to use?

That looks amazing. But I have a question. There's already pink velcro on the front 2 pink things. I think we'll have to cut up the part?

You can do that if you want. But I would recommend to remove the original pink Velcro and glue cardboard into the two Velcro channels. The same with the footpad: remove the original strap and the original green Velcro and glue cardboard into the channel, if you want to use my footpad decal.

Roland... when I think I saw everything... you just came in and show us this... this... BEAUTY!!!

Congratulations! Very well done! And remembering that was created without a real Matty Board in hands, was just with the magic power of Mathematics and the good sense of style!

Thanks to Vans, also, for providing his scans! Amazing work, guys! You are always teaching us a lesson of teamwork and determination!

So, Roland... or Vans... have you tried to apply this decals on a real Matty Board to check the fitting of it? Do you pretend to teach us a tutorial to apply this to don't get the risk of damage the decals?

Roland, when you can reply, I sent you a PM a few days... Now I think we can talk about the purchasing of this hoverboard decals, togheter with the Dave's shirt and the Fantastic Story Magazine... I'll be checking the junkyard too, but let me know when you can!

I don't get tired to say: AMAZING WORK!:thumbsup

See ya!

Wes.

And here are some preview pics of my decals. Please ignore the green background color of the footpad - it's too dark. My finished footpad decal will have a transparent background.

What do you think?

The angles and everything look spot on, I don't imagine any issues. The bottom decal is only one piece, but provided the material is stiff enough, would slide on no problem. That and the bend of the kicktail, but the material looks like it can take it.

Thanks much for the shout out, I don't even care about the spelling! :lol My board is eagerly floating in the corner waiting for a set to hit my postbox. As soon as that happens, i'll post as many pics as you guys want.

OMG! wow! Roland these are amazing!!! :)
are you shipping to europe?? (i live in italy)

ok lol i just read your post in the junkyard :) thanks for everything!!! i'll probably be getting an "ultra kit" :)

So I got BTTF123*'s upgrade kit in the mail the other day. I got it all attached. The only thing I want to fix now is to trim down the strap. The furry strap BTTF123 supplied was large enough to fully cover the matty strap if you want to keep it in a state where it can be reverted back to original matty state.

How long should the foot strap be? is there a screen accurate measurement out there or are people just kind of winging it?

Also I have mine hanging on the wall with fishing line that is looped around the screw post inside the battery area then have the lid screwed down.

PM sent. :)

I hope so. But we will only have certainty after you have tested it on your Hoverboard. :)

The material is pretty strong, so it should be very easy to stick it on the board. I really hope it works as well on the kicktail.

Sorry, I didn't understand... :confused

He talked about your spelling of his user name. He's Vinz, not Vans. ;)

Yes, of course. Wherever you live on this planet. :)

Rolland that is stunning work!!

I hope to have the funds to grab the top tier kit in the next few months.

You are going to make a lot of peoples boards very special indeed.

Ouch! I wasn't expecting the price to be $70 for the full upgrade!.

It looks like I'll have to sit the upgrade out till I can save up some money.

Honestly, I think it's fair... and 25 bucks for the light version is super fair. It basically costs that much to get a decal made anyway.

It takes time to print, laminate, cut, apply velcro, and die cut screw parts, make the footpad.

You are also paying for the effort and weeks that went it to making the graphic, the time it took to get the correct color velcro (which is hard to find - I know because I've gone through a lot of up suppliers), and the time it took to match it up exactly to the Mattyboard.

Hell, he provided the provided the graphic for free. I am happy to hand over that kind of money for providing the kick ass graphic in the first place.

It's a convenience charge... and at the end of the day he has to make it worth his while. I don't think there are enough hours in the day to make one full upgrade kit and charge 30 bucks for it. It simply isn't worth it to someone with a full time job.

I can't wait to get it in the mail and slap it on my board in under 5 minutes. :love

Sorry, I didn't understand... :confused

No, no! Don't even worry about it. It's "Vinz" not "Vans", Ahh, Roland's already got this covered. No worries, Wes! Just a little joke, man. No ill will intended. :)

Can't wait, this looks absolutely amazing. Looks as great as it possibly could, i'm so excited to get these, and SO happy I got to help make them a reality.

Awesome job, Roland!
We learned from various people that it`s only possible to remove the footpad from the Mattycollector board if you strip the board down completely.
As I don`t want to do that, do you think I can still attach your decals to the board without removing the footpad?

You can certainly do that! I believe Roland's footpad decal merely sticks to the top of the pad.

To remove the footpad unit you have to unscrew the entire board, and take the housing out before you can remove the entire footpad piece. You'd have to unscrew that green piece to get inside and slip the velcro strap out. If you don't mind actually cutting the velcro strap itself, you wouldn't need to do any of that.

I'm assuming that Roland's decal is flat on the back since the strap is entirely on top, in which case you could just cut that strap as far down (close to the green plastic/in the holes) as you can, then apply the decal/new strap! If you don't mind making the cuts, it'd be very simple.

Thanks but I was referring to the "main" decals that will be attached to the upper side of the whole board.

If you want to use my decals, it's necessary to remove EVERYTHING from the board. Look at the original decals on the lower side of the board: parts of them are hidden. And my replacement decals have the same size.

Thanks, I`m not at home at the moment so I couldn`t check myself.
Would you sell the footpad upgrade only as I don`t have the money for the whole set at the moment and the footpad bothers me the most...

My bad, dude. Mis-read, thought you just meant having to remove the decals and open the board.
