MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

If that is the case, all the better. If management has to ask such a question, I would love to answer it simply so they have an understanding instead of further blowing off their customers. Matty should have been here when invited and if they had any real passion for the product, been diving into the board asking more questions rather than doing what they did.

Scott came across as a indignant spoiled brat who when he did not hear what he expected got sarcastic with the people that were doing their best to help him.

Any company that exhibits such a behavior either has a locked market or will kill themselves in a competitive one. Given what Matty has done in the past, ( I want more props like the GB line) I would much rather help and see them moving forward than doing what they did on this project. Mattel executives should make this a case study of what not to do and should be here looking at how this unfolded. If that is the case, absolutely, welcome to the RPF.

I don't mean to sound like a dick or a moron, but can someone explain to me why they're are so many complaints about this board? Most people are saying that it isn't 100% screen accurate. I see the NYCC board has a pink handlebar hole instead of black, and someone mentioned that the graphics are solid instead of holographic, but are these differences really that big of a deal?

It still looks like the hoverboard in the movie, and anyone who sees it is going to recognize it instantly. Most people probably won't even see the inaccuracies because they are so negligible.

Dude, you're on the WRONG message board if you don't see things the way we do. It's all in the details and despite having access to a gold mine of reference material and Studio backing, the best replicas are STILL coming from the unlicensed market.
Makes me just scratch my head...

Let's take a closer look. A spike in cancellations happen today AFTER they open up everyone's ability to ask for one. They probably already knew about this thread, so they probably popped in to read updates. Suddenly a "new" member decides as a first post, to ask this question and defend the job they did?

Coincidence?:confused

I just called to cancel my order, I was told "Matty collector does not allow cancellations" WTF I read the what the web said and then was put on hold for 20 minutes!!!! But she said they were going to send me an email within 2 days.....WOW they suck

My orders were cancelled back in July.

:cheers

mjasinski--never underestimate the stupidity and mental laziness of bureaucrats. Like insects...stuck in doomed patterns....

I am really excited about it. Also, I'm not sure how well the sounds are conveyed through the video, I would wait to hear one in person before making judgement.

As promised, Mattycollector uploaded a video in which Scott demonstrates how it sounds like.

Video: Pre-production Back to the Future Hoverboard Prop - YouTube

Lol, note that he says "close to final" and "pre-production" design. Maybe some hope after all........let's all take a minute to roll our eyes............................................................................................
...................................... :rolleyes

OK that felt good.:lol

If they do do anything at all to improve the design, I'd hope they at least fix that foot strap. (And get the lenticular, among other things, but really who cares anymore. It ain't gonna happen)

One thing I just thought about while watching that video. The board turns on while horizontal. A lot of people will want to display the thing horizontal. Unless they included an on-off switch, or a shut-off timer, this thing can't be displayed horizontally. If there is a switch, that wouldn't be very movie accurate, now would it?:lol

Which is probably why they included a diagonal display stand.

Oh, to be a newbie again...It only happens once in your life. Enjoy this time and take pictures of your collection before you start freaking out of a "C Scar" on your Vader helmet... :lol

I think it's ok too. But it could've easily been so much better. I think this forum to me anyway represents "better" not just "ok".

Anyone who has been complaining for a refund in this thread care to tell us straight and plain with no nonsense that they have cancelled their order ?

Will know what's happening in the next 2 days. I'm not keeping it, but as we keep hearing about people who missed out on one but want it; I figured I'd at least advertise it with a local fan group that I'm offloading my preorder in case someone who isn't fussed that it's not movie accurate and missed out on a preorder might want it. Figure there might as well be some good to come out of my preordering it - even if that good is someone else's gain.

There's something I didn't notice before. In the new video, the full hoverboard box is shown, and on the bottom right corner, we can see that the "boys" hoverboard is pictured (a hoverboard made in blue color). Not buying it but for curiosity, do you think Mattel would make that model or have they had enough hoverboard headaches for the rest of their lives?

This brings me a question to my mind about hoverboard colors. The girl next to the one that Marty "borrows" her hoverboard is riding an orange hoverboard. It can be barely seen among the bushes on the first shot of the girls, and when the little girl says "keep it. I have a pitbull now"
I think all hoverboards used in the movie have been showed to the public. Originals from the main hoverboard, the pitbull and the 3 of Biff's gang. But what about this orange hoverboard? Are there any REAL photos out there from the original? I want to see it in detail if possible.

Thanks!

Crap! So they are going to make more crappy hover boards based off the initial poor accuracy mold they have now. Yep, absolutely no reason at all to get it right the first time around, great leadership there Scottyboy! What a dope.

I would trade all of the bad whooshing sounds in the world for a more accurate board. The sounds make me like it less
