Could you tell me where you got the cups? I can only find black in the right shape and size. One pair I found is only for a specific set of trucks.

I agree. The amount of yellow is consistent all the way across under the Valterra banner. This is clearly not the case on the commercial boards. If it is angled at all, it is very slight.

EDIT: That being said, you can achieve a very similar look when applying new grip tape. As seen on page one and mentioned previously by TheRealMcFly, by slightly repositioning and angling the grip tape, you can get it to look nearly identical.

I think i will just have the griptape straight across. Slanted looks odd to me even if it goes with the Valterra letters.

So the paint markers lied to me. They are MUCH lighter than the casing says. My next option will be to go out and get some model paint. I will probbly have to take the deck to the store with me lol

Was the screen used board bottom graphic the same purplish color as the top? The one time we see the bottom in the movie it's hard to tell.

Success! I managed to find a set of white copers just short enough that they don't require any additional cutting. I boiled them for five minutes, as suggested, and they went on pretty easily. I'll be looking into the stencil this week, so hopefully the finish line is in sight.

Anybody got a good lead on where to find the white pivot cups for the Invader 800 trucks? I keep ordering pivot cups from various places and they're never the right size. I've emailed the Madrid shop, but their e-mail correspondence is very hit and miss. I can even live with black ones, I just need them to be the right size.

They should have come with stock black ones.

They did, but they're unaccounted for at the moment. Besides, it'd be ideal to find a white set.

I think in the movie the top graphic letters were straight across and not slanted at all. In the picture where it shows the top there is no slants. All store bought boards had the slanted logo, so the board was custom. Also the yellow paint extends all the way to the edge of the board while the off the shelf deck does not.

If you use better than a VHS still image you can draw reference lines from the truck bolts to discover the graphic is still angled. I recreated this view in my first post of this thread. Please do not put your replicas together incorrectly, unless you're trying to go custom.

I get it, it is hard to visualize. There was a handmade replica done a while back that perpetuated the straight across theory for years longer. I admit it can look like that but when the grip tape is parallel to the angled graphic it is less obvious it is angled, but it always is this way. Trust me on this one, I have agonized over these details for ages.

Ok yeah now I believe it was slanted, but since it was custom it has a bigger yellow area on the top, so it is a little inaccurate when done with with the store bought board.

We can only speculate the origins of the movie deck, I would not rule out it being a factory board. I scaled many images and cross referenced with the correct Madrid sticker, the movie board graphics are identical in scale and dimension.

Another reason why I think it's custom is that the yellow doesn't extend to the very edge of the board on the store bought one when it does in the movie. They might have just painted it themselves, but we can never know for sure.

I have found that our vintage flat decks are slightly wider towards the kicktail compared to the movie board. It would seem our graphics are done by silkscreen, not always 'landing' in exactly the same place. Still, as little as .5" from each side will be enough to eliminate the border the graphic. Get out the masking tape and create a mock up trim line and you'll find your splatter graphic aligning with the movie board. The deck width towards the rear truck/wheels will appear improved as well. Reference my first attempt on the first page. The axle width is much more narrow than the deck.

Sometimes you have to wonder why everything from the film is some impossible to source variation. I too wonder if the two matching boards built for the film are entirely custom. There is a third that seems confined to Marty's room. Valterra did produce decks with concave and one of our own has a true original, flat without the blue splatter layer. Or maybe Jerry Madrid went surfing, drank some beers, and built some stunt boards for his then stunt-man buddy Bob.

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get all of the Madrid Stickers for this skateboard. I don't really have the stuff to try and print them myself. It would probably be easier if I just bought them. This is the last piece I need to finish my deck.
