Mandalorian Season 3

However, Grogu could have made short work of the Troopers and might have thrown all of them over the cliff with one focused Force blow. And Gideon might have knocked Mando's helmet off when he was kneeling before him. Ah well. :)
Why don't they hand IG-12 some blasters, Grogu could either show off his mech prowess or activate autopilot, IG taking out the remnant in Nevarro was some of the most interesting gun work in the entire show.

Edit:
And bring back Grogu's giggling while IG-12 wreaks havoc

Second Edit: Giggling and spamming Yes, while dropping Imp Super Commandos, this is some of the only acceptable comedy I like in this show, This is the Way.

Hehe…”The Shadow Council”….pretty good evil dudes’ gang name…

I have a better cartoon-themed name for the secret society of evil-doers, banded together from across the galaxy…

Man, the remnant is efficient, gotta give them that. Gideon had delivery of those reinforcements like, later that day!
The shadow council scene dragged. It could've been seriously boiled down and quickened in writing/direction/editing.
Giancarlo Esposito sure likes to make a meal out of a couple of words.

The episode did not have compelling pacing in the first half. The IG12 thing is stupid. Episode picked up once they reached Mandalore.

I liked that wooden ship and the characters on it, although they didn't really need to be there narratively (maybe later they'll be important). Din already found the forge, they didn't need to stumble upon locals to help find it again.

Bo's speech about division was good, and Din's pep talk after.

Well probably my favorite episode of the season thus far!

Nice to see Captain Pellaeon!

All this time I had assumed Gideon would be revealed as an underling to Thrawn but that doesn't seem to be the case. He doesn't seem to be acting on Thrawn's behalf at all.

Not sure how I feel about this IG-12 stuff. It's goofy and kinda funny but I'm conflicted on that one. I think I would've at least enclosed the pilot compartment. Clearly there's a reason they're giving Grogu this kinda of mobility. Odd he has no weaponry.

Still not trusting the Armorer. I think things may finally be coming to a reveal with her.

The notion of Mandalorian surface survivors seems kinda weird. How could anyone have possibly lived any period of time in those conditions? Also, they never saw any sign of a massive Imperial base there? They only now encountered that huge creature? I kinda liked their haggard look though.

I'm a bit confused about the nature of beskar because I thought it was well established that it was impervious to most anything, yet we see Mandalorians and Imperial supercommandos(? I guess?) going down from blaster fire?

TIE interceptors are stored hanging, pointed at the ground? Must be interesting to board! Also have solar panel articulation, unless this is a feature of another "frontier" variant, like the fold-panel TIE fighter?

I thought it was really weird Grogu didn't resort to using the Force rather than allowing Mando, his only family, to be captured.

The praetorian guards were neat and I'm fairly certain their helmets are different from the ones we saw in TLJ. They frankly look cooler and more Mando inspired. I'm also wondering, is this actually the Disney canon description for what we've always called the royal guards? Are the guards we see in RotJ technically praetorian guards as well?

It seems crazy and kinda silly but I honestly have concerns about Mando's survival, esp since the overall direction seems to be moving away from him. I may be reading too much into his posts but I follow Brendan Wayne on social media and over the last few months (well before this season), I've almost gotten the vibe that he might be saying farewell to Mando? He just seemed unusually introspective and reflective on his experiences with the role and I *think* I even read he and his family are moving to Italy? He also just today made a comment about how the final episode is gonna hurt, etc. Now I know this could just be nothing and they technically could get someone else to play Mando but I do wonder somewhat, especially so given the events of this episode. I dunno.

Ah maybe so!

I also liked the Imperial supercommandos although I wish they looked more like the old McQuarrie concept art. They look a bit too much like a "modernized" Phase II clonetrooper, imo.

That was my feeling, that they were supposed to be clones of Gideon, combined with dark trooper tech…

What a weird episode. Especially coming off last week’s entry. I feel like it’s especially jarring to have a bad filler episode one week, and the very next make it so heavy. I feel like they could really tighten up the story in places and give it some better pacing. This season has been all over the place, unfortunately.

Glad to see Pellaeon…That was pretty cool.

Yeah I wasn't initially sure what he was even talking about. He does walk by what appear to be cloning vats among the troopers standing at attention at the beginning of the episode.

I did see a theory that some of the "spies" the title refers to could include the Mandalorian "survivors". That could explain their miraculous survival and seeming ignorance to what surely was going on right under their noses. The Armorer was certainly useful in volunteering to take some back to the fleet.

Some have noticed not all the fleet's ships arrived in orbit around Mandalore and wonder if they broke off and went somewhere else for some reason. There had been rumors Tem Morrison was involved with this season but I'm not sure Boba Fett alone would make much of a helpful difference against those kind of odds. It also occurs to me there could be some symbolic significance if the mythosaur itself made an appearance and saved the day. Maybe it just eats Gideon after all his grandstanding lol

Do people think the Armorer is a spy because she has horns on her helmet and so does Moff Giddy? or is it because she has horns on her helmet and does Moff Giddiggity.

Boba would be the guy to rescue Mando, I could see that happening. I guess the real question is does he get saved this season, or next season, or in the movie? Would they have the balls to merc him next episode and end his story?

I just realized...is Gideon calling them darktroopers? Are they clones of him?

I thought he was just talking about his own armor being the next Darktrooper, and it being better because it was him inside. Don’t think he was talking about the commandos
When I made my comments earlier today, I was under the same impression, weird how that happened. I rewatched that speech specifically and his wording is about his own armor being the next iteration on Darktrooper tech. I was lowkey kinda hype for all the troopers to be clones of Gideon, especially hinting that we might never be rid of a Gideon, which I guess is still possible, but they are definitely not Darktroopers but must be Imperial Super Commandos.
