Mandalorian Season 3

Yeah it could be argued he is a zealot and thus is just kinda weird with his habits (literally and figuratively), although Bo-Katan just lounging around on her throne decked out in full armor was a little harder to explain away.

I had hoped that part of Mando's arc would be to move away from the fanaticism of the Children of the Watch, maybe even discover they aren't so nice (which I think was the genesis of some of the Armorer=bad theories) and be his own person. This seemed like where things were going for a bit...but now all that seems to have regressed. It would've been a neat little moment if he had remained out of focus in the background as Grogu played with the frog...and then we see him remove his helmet and place it by his side before a hard cut to black and then roll credits.

From a practical standpoint, I think it's possible, if the rumors of a precarious situation with Pedro Pascal are true, they don't want to lean too heavily on showing his face though.

Am I the only one that found it absurd that Mando hung out at his new “Crazy Riggs Beach Abode” with his full battle gear and helmet on?

Really?? You really NEVER take that same battle armor outfit and helmet off, even with your adopted kid just chillin’ at home????

Cartoon character…

Even Jango was enough of a “real character” that he changed into loungewear when he was just hanging out at home and dropped the battle armor.

To your point:

I also agree with the sentiment One last thing - glad the Dark Saber was destroyed. I never liked the look of it - the blade always looked like a cartoon, especially how it looked like a solid metal blade with some lights in it, yet it would go in and out of the hilt like a lightsaber, even though the blade was wider than the hilt. If they rebuild it, I hope the visual FX look better.
I think the set up in the prior episode that she didn’t need the Darksber to lead Mandalor sealed its fate for this seasons arc.

As it stands with it just broken, I believe it will come back. There is too much lore over too many clone wars and rebels episodes for it to be just squeezed to death.

I think if it was to be gone it should have been ceremonially thrown into the forge by Bo as the first official action after its lighting.

It will be back in some iteration.

Someone mentioned this finale was “good enough.” I refuse to accept that. The mismanagement by Disney on these shows is just so sad.

Question: So Gideon just kinda squished the DarkSaber like a trinket? Wasn’t it made of Beskar? So that’s just gone now? That was so dumb to me. It seemed (to me) to be a lack of respect for “lightsabers” in general.

I sense a 4th season side quest is coming…

Armorer: “The Dark Saber was constructed of the purest Beskar ever forged that is guarded by the Monks of the Fist. You must travel to the Moon of Mongo and battle the mythical Lizard King and present his severed head to the monks in exchange for the needed Beskar to repair the saber.”

Mando: “If I am successful, I would like to have my son given a third name and be known in the song as ‘Din Jimmy Grogu’. This is the way.”

Armorer: “This is the way.”

BTW: When is the assembled Mandolorian Choir going to show up and sing the song that they keep referring to????

Yeah, for me it just didn't translate on screen at all that Gideon's suit was meant to be any kind of power armor, beyond the mechanical sounds added in post and the fact he showed unusual strength a few times. Visually it literally just looked like black Mandalorian armor with some Imperial aesthetics thrown in. I didn't get what the "darktrooper" connection was other than it was black? Lol! I really thought he was going to reveal he had been a "closet Mandalorian" all this time.
I immediately thought 'iron-gideon' from the sounds and, i'd swear he picked someone up with one hand.

I also thought he came off as a giant-wuss in the last 2 episodes. Let the troops do the work, come down, talk tough, then leave like a wimp to let the troops do the fighting again. Din finds him, starts fighting and starts gaining an advantage and he wimps out again to let the pratorian guards do the hard work - all while wearing, what seemed clear to me, was a powered suit.

Also, if you played the Dark Forces game, the final suit was clearly a powered suit. How else is a super fat admiral all of a sudden 20x faster and stronger than you in the game? :)

I can say with 100% conviction it will be back with some small changes.....
They can sell all new season 4 dark sabers without major retooling needed for toys and replicas.

I think at some point in this series someone mentioned that the Darksaber was made out of a particularly old and strong type of Beskar (or the way it was forged, IDK). Beskar, even thin Beskar, is like starship hull strong so there's not way, powered suit or not, that he should have been able to just crush it.

We know the suit was powered, we're just saying it would have made more sense to have a legit Darktrooper suit like the Mk3 Darktrooper rather than what looks like regular Mando armor with some servo-y sounds.

I never kept up with The Clone Wars. Can someone tell me why Mandalorians even have a lightsaber? What do they have to do with the Jedi? Or, can just anybody have a lightsaber now?

It was the Saber built by the first Mandalorian to ever become a Jedi, a thousand years ago. After he dies his family (House Vizsla) stole it from the Jedi temple and passed it down through the family. Eventually it comes to signify the leadership of Mandalore.

They can melt the beskar it was made of into another one,
Weapons are their religion, the forge and all that. Like Mandalore itself rising from the ashes, A new beginning with a resurrected dark saber. So symbolic.
Or was it lost in the explosion? Seems you could recover it anyways. Send those kid Mando-scouts looking for it. Give them something useful to do.

Here, they explained it much better.

Maul dueled Sidious with it once.
