Limited Run Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Run Full )

First, I taped off the area above and below the pommel cube rings and roughed up the surface of the pommel cube rings with the lightest steel wool in my bin.

Next, I hit the pommel cubes with repeated coats of aluminum black until the entire pommel cube ring was solid black. After that, I used the steel wool to lighten up the darkness of the pommel cube ring.

After that, I sprayed the pommel cube ring with oven cleaner and let it sit for about 8 minutes.

I then rinsed and cleaned the pommel cubes and removed the painters tape and that was it.

The entire operation took about 1 hour total.

Thank you for sharing this trick!! I've seen a lot of people trying to replicate this look. This seals it for me, perfect replication!! I wish I had a saber to practice this technique on

Beautiful job matching it to the real piece!!

When u used the oven clean, did u let it stay bubble-ly or did u brush it smooth with a brush?

There's already one for sale on the 'bay. (Not me, just for the record.)

Pretty significant markup, which the seller is certainly with in his right to ask for, however.

Wasting no time! I spent 10 minutes dremmeling the tabs off mine last night and my wife was already on my case about having a new project. I love the saber but I have a feeling I'm not going to get too far on this anytime soon.

The problem is that the thickness of the d ring is larger than the diameter of the hole it needs it go into. I needed to use a dremel to make the ring thinner on both sides before trying to attach it to the saber. Frankly it was messy and looked terrible. I'm going to keep searching for a thinner d ring.

Sorry to say, I had the same problem. The 3mm hole was simply too small for the D Ring. And since the pommel cubes are so short, there's only so much more material you can cut to enlarge the hole.

I'm hoping that I can find an appropriate sized D Ring from my stash when I return home.

I'm so pleased with the saber otherwise.

Anyone still need a clamp card? I made Gerber files for one similar to the sloth furnace card that has hero on one side and Stunt on the other. I'm thinking about ordering some. I think I can get 10 for around $30.

I would be in for 2 if you go this route.

Would the wannawanga Luke ANH D-ring work or does it use the slightly pointed Obi Wan style one? I can't tell from online pics.

The d ring from an ESB style kobold setup would probably be a bit more accurate once installed.

I haven't picked my hilt up yet - still at the mailbox, but from the photos posted, it looks like the pommel cubes are close in size to those on the MK1 (Armitage shanks hand wheel), which are noticeably shorter than those of the shared stunt saber props (V2 and V3).

The D-ring I have here with an old Blast-Tech Kobold is 2.7mm which would probably fit nicely - I just can't re-use this one because there's already too much material cut out of it and you'd see that when the D-ring moves to one side on the pommel cube.

I also haven't put the supplied D-ring on my MK1 yet, but I may very well run into the same problem there. The D-ring measures 3.09mm and the hole as best as I can measure is smaller than 3.06mm. Digital calipers in both measurements.

With so amount of time at the mailbox you will not have to weather it :)

Hey guys, im also currently looking where we can get another dring from. if anyone finds one at a 2.5mm wire thickness please let us know

So here is a quck fix until we can find a 2.5mm dring,After measuring the Drings i have left, most of them measure any where from 3.15 / 3.30mm, With a little bit of work you can file down to just under 3mm.

This bar is 3mm Thick

Fits easy with room in the cube

I taped off a section the i can file so the the exposed section will not get scratched.

Only took about a minute of filing around the ring and got it to size
