Limited Run Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Run Full )

Re: Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Pricing Now Uploaded )

Oh man Im looking forward to this, my 1st Luke saber.
Started work on nutting out the internals. It will most likely take the rest of the year (or more)to finish it. I need to get the MPCNC finished before I can make it. Will do a 3d printed test version once I have the saber and can make some measurements. I just used the images earlier on and scaled them to start planning.

Just wondering how people are planning to colour the grenade section if it is not annodized? Paint?
Mask off and spray with auto black (maybe satin unsure at the moment). lightly scratch or sand off over spray and buff to match the rest of the saber.
you would need to clean it before you spray and possibility use a primer too.

Hey guys,

sorry ive been trying to finish up the Crystal chamber project and answer all my emails, if I missed your email or do not have you on the list please let me know!

Am I too late? I'd like one with the holes and clamp.

I can add you if you are interested,

Rudy, can you let us know the Inner Diameter of the different sections? Thinking about some chassis/reveal ideas until you make your version.

the part where the clamp is will be 29mm and the rib section is 26mm

I think I got the anodizing down to 5.00 a saber. just waiting on conformation

Re: Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Pricing Now Uploaded )

I'm ready to send payment, just waiting on email response. Here's my order:

no clamp
yes anodizing
NO HOLES (none on booster, emitter, anywhere)

Thank you!

Thats some great volume inside the hilt well done! whats the inside length of the grenade from the emiter end to threaded body section and then to the pomel? awesome news about the anodizing too. Better add that to mine too.

Cool :)

Re: Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Pricing Now Uploaded )

What parts would be anodized with the option? Just the black in the rings or the other black parts as well?

I am definitely in on the anodizing too, if that option is offered.

Maybe it's the wrong place to ask and most probably this has been explained and discussed somewhere already (please point me to it if somebody knows!).

I've placed some arrows in this image with location of what I see are areas covered with aluminium tape. Is this the general consensus? And I keep on seeing copper painted tape in the neck as well (because of the wrinkles in the groove and a sloppy paint job). Is that what it is? And in that case, why does this V3 run have a copper neck?

I'm also seeing that the alu-tape on the clamp shows a texture. Has this tape been identified? Most reinforced tapes I know have a much stronger texture than this one.

I don't know if it's been discussed elsewhere as I don't follow other discussions about this particular saber, but we may never find the correct tape, even if we knew exactly what was used at the time - the original product may be out of production for years/decades. IMO, any aluminum tape will do the job and provide accuracy to a much higher degree than most people ever achieve on any replica here in the forum anyway.

I'm not sure why Rudy originally decided to make the neck out of copper, but I like to think it's just because he can. Great selling feature IMO. Easy to cover in tape and re-paint in copper if someone wants texture. If someone wants a super accurate "prop" replica they need to look into making a buck out of wood and then casting copies.

What I find most interesting about all the ROTJ saber props is why the designers/prop guys at the time didn't decorate them all the same - did they have a shortage of black & copper paint, aluminum tape and long levers?

Re: Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Pricing Now Uploaded )

I think the copper neck is nice. I'd make this one an idealized version. Someone make a cast metal version with seam lines and grenade section rings that don't line up and then I will tape it up and paint. When did the blade mounting post break off? This and the V2 were exactly the same when made. I assume it was during the Luke Vader fight at some point towards the end which required making the Yuma for the sandbarge. Wasn't the tape and copper done after filming to match the Hero which was also made after filming for promotion work.

Re: Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Pricing Now Uploaded )

Even if the "hero" was made and the copper on the shared was applied after principal photography was done, if Luke's saber was scripted to be a new construction, why wouldn't they have given all the filmed props a fresh coat of identical paint? I love v2, but it's all beaten to hell in every scene which seems like some really lazy prop work. :)

I may be wrong and someone can feel free to correct me. Luke's ROTJ saber was suppose to constructed from spare parts that Obi-Wan had at his home. If so, that would possibly explain the wear. In the end, scripts and storylines change, the prop stayed as is.

Yeah, I always figured the story was that he built it from parts at Obi Wan's place.

Maybe old Ben had a backup hilt, or spare parts/crystals and whatnot in that little chest he pulls the Graflex from.

Perfectly pristine props are boring on screen. They have no depth or character. Sterile. There are a few exceptions, but not many.

I work as a set dresser/props guy in films and pretty much everything gets some degree of aging/weathering. It's like it's standard procedure.

Re: Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Pricing Now Uploaded )

I would like the black anodizing also, if/when that option becomes available.
