Limited Run Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 37)

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

I have gotten mine and it is awesome. Had to do the dremmeled drum bit inside where the pommel goes on the main body, but it fits perfectly now. This thing is so gorgeous, I am really considering not painting it at all now.

Where does the bearing go? EDIT: never mind...I have just read back further in the thread.

:( i must have missed the first shipment, i did pay later then expected. hope mine ships on the next outing im so jealous seeing all this v2s! :p

Just ordered some gaffer tape last night to add to the neck. Still scouting for a clamp.

where did you order the tape? im really in the dark on the difference between gaffer tape and duct tape?

Gaffers tape has a matte finish verses duct tape that has a gloss finish.

The fabric backing the adhesive is also different. Also, I just ordered it from Amazon (Which is me being polite. In this day and age, there's only one answer to "where'd you find that?" now: Google.)

Gaff is a fabric tape that sticks to things about as well as duct tape, but comes off easier without leaving as much residue.

Edit: PoopaPapaPalps beat me to it

Partially assembled mine today! I'm not 100% sure how the bearing and rod work so I'll wait for the tutorial. All my problems with the clamp just happened because I needed one more rotation and couldn't squeeze it tight enough to adjust it. A second set of hands helped, although I know I'll have to remove it for painting. I also used a piece of packing tape to secure the clamp card, and put the D ring in just as Romans video said.

hey, are these grub screws Alen sockets? They just look round. I'd like to take my pommel off for painting but I'm not sure how to get it back out lol

Where are you getting your clamp from?

Bewhahahahahahahhahahaha (That was supposed to be an Evil Laugh)

I got one from a member here. Been doing a bit of trading as little I have for sale has been moving. It's a replica, not original

See if TCSS has a parks one in stock, if you don't mind a repro.

Bearing goes into the saber, rod goes through the emitter, and into the neck. What's not to get?

I don't mind a repro but it's a repro without the "Graflex" stamp which might as well not be a reproduction at all.

Well, how to fix the bearing in place, and to what. I think Dan mentioned gluing the bearing to the rod (not sure he best adhesive for this) and measuring enough length for it to reach up to the emitter, which is a little confusing for me. it feels like the bearing would be of any use unless the outside were fixed to something too. We haven't started discussing that, so I figured I'd wait.

My bearing fits unaided by any adhesive. All I did was drop it into the body, and with a few taps on it with a threaded rod, it's stuck in pretty snug. With the rod provided, I secured it in the emitter with the nipple screws, and plopped it in. I didn't think there was any plan for it other than that.

Pressure fit, I like it. If you were to hold the thing with the emitter facing down, would it still slide out?

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Yeah, that's what I'm confused about. It seems like the emitter and rod would just fly off if it's pointed downward.

Yes, but that's what the gaffer tape is going to come in for. But, making it resemble the original prop as much as I can is what I'm striving to do. If you wanted to idealize the thing, I'm sure you could just lock the rod into the neck/bearing with some epoxy or something. Someone earlier in the thread posted theirs with a stopper on the end of the rod to keep it from sliding out. That seems to be a pretty good and simple fix.

excellent thanks for clarifying, I always wondered the difference

Ah, I see. I think on the original prop, the gaffers tape was only to stop rotation?
