Lost in Space (NETFLIX) Season 2

Stayed away from here until I finished. Show is a wild ride, poor tortured Robinsons. Good gods of space!
You can tear up things here and there but I just roll with it. I'll only add.... have some damn guns! LOL
Going into alien environments with freekin' monsters that desperately want to make you their morning poo sort of demands it.
Big Posey fan so I'm loving her in this.

Avoiding spoilers in here.. in the first 3 episodes which is taking forever because I haven’t had much free time

But I’m just not feelin these first episodes, hope it turns around

Yes, that is the stupidest thing on the show. Why don't they have any weapons? They keep getting attacked and getting their asses kicked!

I'm thinking it was supposed to be a straight shot to Alpha Centauri. Something went awry and they wound up lost. They didn't plan for error apparently. You'd think you'd have some guns 'just in case', but apparently not.

You can make weapons if they needed. I’m sure they have the tech to construct. The robot has been their saving “weapon” at times.

It was shown during S1 that the Jupiters, at least the Robinson's, have 3D printers aboard that are capable of printing guns but in order to do so requires a specific user's authorization. So they can if they feel that if they absolutely need to, but the mom is kind of stupid when it comes to weapons and the need for them.

As for having weapons regularly available, you have to understand that the group the Robinson's are a part of aren't the first ones to make the trip to Alpha Centauri. There have been other missions there that have, presumably, not gotten lost along the way so that's probably why there are no guns aboard any of the Jupiters. However, as shown this season, there is a contingent of armed security personnel aboard the mothership so that, combined with 3D printing plans for guns on the Jupiters suggests that the mission planners are aware that things may go wrong and guns might be needed and have provided for that possibility.

Yeah that’s right, the whole printed gun thing from season one.
Old show the weapons were out quite a bit. Even Will packed a few times. I just don’t get is it some anti gun thing or a writer thing to make for more drama? But it’s frustrating because it’s a basic survival tool in any wilderness with predators, or if you need to live off the land and take some game. Anyways..... gotta just roll with it. I do look forward to season three, can’t see how there won’t be one given that last ep.

I am glad, otherwise it would turn into a gun show, and killing people and space monsters left and right, like any other SciFi show.
it makes it a better show.

I agree, to a degree. There does come a point where when you could really use a gun and you have access to one, or to at least have one made relatively quickly, then it would be a good idea to have that gun made. I can also add tension and drama when there seems to be something particularly dangerous running around and there's only a few guns available.

The lack of guns makes absolutely sense. I'm pretty sure, robots and humans won't be enemies any longer in a few seasons. But it's much more difficult to become friends if you killed a lot of them.

just finished season 2 and totally epic... Honestly one of the best netflix originals theyve done....

Its family friendly and a little safe sure but its still really good story telling and fun to watch... And frankly. The special effects are better than most big budget movies. Really the SFX in this the bestive ever seen in a tv show...

I really hope we dont have to wait nearly 2 years for season 3

I'm honestly not a fan of Smith at all. Hated her in the first season and even though they tried to make her not an evil bitch in the second, she still needs to get pushed out an airlock (for real this time). I had a problem with most of the human characters this year. Way too much mustache-twirling for my taste.

Well, if that's how you feel about her, then Parker Posey did her job well. :)

If you're not pure evil, you have to have some redeeming qualities so people actually question why you're doing what you're doing. While I can't see how she survives that scenario (which she clearly did), i had zero thought that she was doing it for anything other than her own benefit.

To be fair, there's also the fact there's only so much you can do with the premise before it becomes tiresome. For this one, three seasons is a good number.
Agreed. With the way the show's written you really couldn't drag it for much longer before the writing starts to suck because they don't know how to continue the show. There's only so long that you can really keep the Robinsons "lost" before viewers start to say, "Oh come on! Really?" if you drag it out for a 4th or 5th season. Shows like this, what I call quest shows, are best when written to a set number of seasons. otherwise they just drag on and on until eventually they end on a low note. That or they complete the "quest" then they start a new quest which isn't near as interesting or well done but is being done because the network greenlit them for another season. Shows like Alias, Heroes, and LOST are a good examples of this phenomenon, they started off strong but either wrapped the main story far too soon (Alias and Heroes) and kept on going, or just tread water and answered questions with more questions because they didn't know how long they had to tell their story (LOST).

This becomes a topic for another thread, but Lost made the social commentary point that Twin Peaks failed to make decades ago. LIS if written well could easily last 5 solid seasons. After that, it is very doubtful.
