Lost in Space (NETFLIX) Season 2

Whi

This becomes a topic for another thread, but Lost made the social commentary point that Twin Peaks failed to make decades ago. LIS if written well could easily last 5 solid seasons. After that, it is very doubtful.
The problem with LOST is that it really needed a fixed number of seasons. It was great the first couple of seasons, then it was in treading water mode since they didn't know how long they had to wrap their story up. Once they found out that they were wrapping in another season or two is when the show started to pick up (for me) again and started working to an ending.

As far as Lost in Space goes, I really think 3 seasons is as long as it can go before it starts to drag. As I've said previously, you can only keep them "lost" for so long, they're going to have to reach Alpha Centauri eventually or die in the process. While I can see them reaching AC and the producers wrapping up that story line and going with another one for another season or more, that seldomly works well, in my opinion. They've done this before with Alias, Heroes (to a degree, The Good Place) and the new story line is seldomly as engaging as the original, even if the show manages to do well enough to get renewed for another few seasons.

It's best that they end the show in season 3 on a high note and on their own terms. It would suck for the show to get renewed for S4 but with almost everything wrapped up in S3. Or, even worse, come up with a great new storyline for S4 on but only to end on a cliffhanger after being canceled at the end of S4.

That's assuming the guy was telling the truth when he said it was originally set up for 3 years and not just trying to sell the company line. If they really plotted it for 4 or 5 and now they're stuck at 3, it could suffer as much if not more than trying to stretch it out.

Lucifer was picked up for 'one final season' last summer, yet, Ellis just altered his contract in case they opt for more still. Doesn't mean it happens, but it also means these things aren't always set in stone either.
