lost boys MARKO jacket replica!

I'm not sure I understand where on the jacket you are talking about? Could you maybe draw a circle around the matador with the black jacket?
If I follow what he's saying he's talking about the Underside / Forearm area on the Left Sleeve. I've only been able to find one Publicity shot of Alex where this part is visible, and it does look odd. (I'm at work so I don't have access to my Screen Shot Library)

Logically it should be the top half of the Center Matador, and it does appear that this is the most commonly used part in the Replicas, and it appears to be the same part in the Stunt Jacket from that Auction.

I'll have to study this more...

You are correct I just couldn't circle on my smart phone at the time I posted.

I didnt even get a screenshot of the black matador as it was something I thought wasn't needed as I was referencing multiple jackets and other people's replicas at the time then since many variations I stuck with the promo shots then realised this strange matador and put 2 and 2 together that it was the one I saw but didnt purchase.

This was easily 2 years ago :-/ and not found one since, there are black matadors but different backgrounds, kicking myself i didnt save link or image.

Since the topic was about matadors thought to chime in haha

When it comes to fraying. Are people fraying the tapestries or just the actual denim jacket itself ? From imagery it looks more as if the jacket is mostly frayed, and only tiny bits of the tapestries are also frayed here and there.

I found one of the tapestries on eBay. But the seller contacted me after shipping to notify me he realized one of the corners is slightly frayed. I’m not that concerned about it, as it looks like the corner which is frayed goes on the inner side of a sleeve. But it did bring this question to mind.

When I chopped off the hem and cuffs on my jacket, I roughed it up a little in some other spots and ran it through the washing machine and dryer once. So it's clean and a little frayed in those areas. I've cut my tapestries a little large so I can fray those too once I finished sewing them all on there. When the tapestries are frayed, they end up looking a lot like frayed denim because the colorful fuzzy bits come off leaving just the backing cord.

So I guess my answer is both? My thought was to focus more on fraying the tapestries so the base jacket had slightly more structure, just for construction purposes.

Here's a pic I just took of part of the back that needs some work. The lighter strings are from the jacket and the gray cord is from the tapestries. I'm also attaching a pic of where two tapestries overlap on the arm so you can see some slight (intentional!) tapestry fraying I've started on there. You can also see how the colorful fuzzy parts of the tapestry kind of cling onto the woven cord backing. Does any of this help?

On my jacket the velvet tapestries are cut to size and they normally fray or pull apart so it has that natural look of the jacket.

However, if you pull at it it will just cause problems later on, so i put a little glue on the frays so that they don't pull apart anymore but also fray stays normal.

The glue dries invisible so you don't see it really, helps with the tapestries not falling apart.

Which one did you find?

Which one did you find?
The peacock tapestry. Been looking for two months. Now I just need the jaguar.
My advice for the tapestries is look on ebay for what you want.
I looked up 'Vintage peacock tapestry'. Then I saved my search. So that any time a new tapestry was listed under those key phrases, I got an email. Granted, it still took a while for the right one to pop up. But without doing that, I wouldn't have found and bought it that day.

This helps a lot, actually. I was thinking of cutting them slightly large also. So that will definitely help when it comes time to fray them then. Hopefully by doing so, the stitching to connect it to the jacket itself will keep the tapestry from fraying anymore beyond that point. Thanks!

I might try that on a piece not attached to the jacket. It's a good idea if it comes down to it.

You never found yours?!

Admittedly, the one I found was on a bid. The starting bid was $24. But I emailed the seller and asked if I paid them $50 upfront, and $10 shipping, if they'd take it off bid and just let me buy it. I think that price jump is what led them to agree.

No, still looking.

I comb ebay each day for that particular one. I got no results. Lucky you!
I bought the cheetah/leopard one last week

I personally would Not fray it, it will fray naturally. If your tapestry has minor fraying that is not a issue. If you do, DONT over do it. The old saying goes less is better, you over do it and you cant put it back together. Just my 2 cents.

I’ve been doing the same. Seems we got each other on one then. The leopard is the only one I haven’t seen anything remotely close to, aside from a pillow of it a member showed me.

Right. I sometimes use a LITTLE E6000 glue to keep fabric from fraying vs hemming but very little otherwise you will have a hell of a time putting a needle through it when you sew the tapestry. Do NOT glue the tapestry to the jacket, if you need to change something your screwed.

I wonder how many of these Tapestries are out there ripped to shreds because someone started this Project and gave up on it?

my mother is a sewist so all of my jacket is properly stitched together and the tapestries, some of the ones are done by hand, i only put the glue on the ends. I actually intend to wear the jacket on special occasions so I dont risk parts falling off. All my patches are stitched so all is removable,
