lost boys MARKO jacket replica!

For those in search of the Cleo, the Tiger Black Boarder, and the Collar print, this may work for you.

I had one printed up from Contrado. I printed it at 20" wide and it fits a Medium Jacket well. You can scale it up if you're making a bigger Jacket. I'm not entirely sure the Collar print will work however, as the first Print I did the Collar pattern was too small, but I've scaled this one up and it looks like it would work. (but haven't tested it yet)

The Warbird goes on the left side of this, and you should be able to see a little of the background between the wings. I had it printed on a light weight / thin fabric only because I didn't know what fabric would be best. I also had a strip of White Ribbon / Boarder Trim sewed across the White strips (to give them texture I guess) and I had the whole thing sewed onto a lightweight Canvas type Cheescloth, which I am fraying on the right edge. I'll Post pics of that from my phone, posting this from my Computer.

Another thing I did on this version was add extra Black space at the top and bottom, wish I had thought of that when I had mine printed.

Cleo has Silver Sequins sewed over her eyes in the movie, which make them flash when they catch light. She also has Red Sequins over her... nipples.

I determined that his was the correct pattern for the Tiger Boarder from the clip of the Marko Vest in The Great White Hype. Also, I did cut mine a little on the left side, making the Cut Line run up the side, about on her Right knee, thus making the image actually around 19.5" but it seems it'd be easier to just print it at 20" and cut it down than try to scale it. You'll see what I mean when you get to the Design & Scale section if you have one printed.

Since this is the hands down hardest authentic piece to find, I hope this Reproduction helps.

Charlie Tearz this is an incredible help to all of us. I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying thank-you for taking the time and doing that.

This really helps a lot. I’m glad I didn’t put my order through just yet on the site.

When it comes to the collar I’m a bit iffy about it due to quality. But if I can get them to print all three of these things on a single piece, compared to paying for each piece separately, it will save a good chunk of money the first go around. So we’ll see how it turns out for my own medium jacket.

I ran out of time today before I had to leave for work. But I'll pin this new one up on my Current Jacket (which is a Medium) when I get home and post a pic so you can see if it fits your aesthetic.

Just going by the Great White Hype screenshot I think it's about right.

If it helps, it cost about $30 to have this made & shipped.

Looking at it I think 20" wide may be a little too big on a MediumJacket... I'm gonna have to think about this and review images...

$30 is better than the $70 when trying to get each piece made separately. As for the issue of it being on a medium jacket, when I measured mine, it came out to roughly 15 x 12 inches for cleo. But then the collar piece came out to about 22.5 x 3.5. Both of which I added a little extra space to.

This was the original reason why I didn't think of combining both onto a single piece for printing. We may not have a choice but to order them separately. Though, I'll measure the shoulder blades for the leopards tomorrow. Maybe we can have Cleo printed on her own. But then have the collar piece and the 3 large felines that go across the shoulders printed together to save money.

I have a friend who has an Original Cleo, and he says the width for the picture I did would be right at 16".

I'm going to play around with this a little...

Ok..... after working on this a few hours, here's the latest version that I've come up with....

Test Cleo Print V3.jpg

This is scaled according to the measurements I got from a Friend who has the Original Cleo, and from measurements on my own Snake Lady I used on my Jacket. The Sun is approximately 15.76" across and is the main section used. The Tiger Boarder is based on the same scaling and I put enough to make two of them. I made The Snake Lady Boarder used for the Collar extra long to accommodate a larger Jacket Collar. Each segment of the repeated pattern is roughly 3" long and there are about 7 of them on a 21" Collar for a Medium Jacket.

I'm having the following one printed (missing the Ruler measurement) at 40", which was the maxim length I could make it. Earlier versions of this I mocked up had three Snake Ladies, but it wouldn't fit in the parameters without me jumping up and doubling the price point. There was an option of material that specifically said it was used for Tapestries, so that's the material I used.... let's hope that wasn't a mistake.

Test Cleo Print V5.jpg

I'd like this to be the last time I have to do this, but I'm going to keep tinkering till I have it perfected. Incidentally, I have my previous 20" version I just did of Cleo for sale if someone is making a Large or Extra Large Jacket and needs it. I'll also have an extra Collar Boarder and Snake Lady IF this one turns out the way I want it. PM me if you're interested.

Does the original contain the lower part of their bodies? I always wondered if they are included or not and where would it fit?

The Snake Lady does technically. I ran the image long because tucking it under the Leopard works better than cutting it off right at the edge.

The Cleo is cut long the edge of the Couch on the bottom, and up the sides along the width of the Moon. I just ran that image larger cause it looks cool and we've finally gotten a good pic her.

Is that what you were asking?

Yeah because I thought they are such rare pieces it would be a shame to dispose of the rest so I wanted to know where it all fit.

Yes they are quite rare, but the ones that have scored the originals cut them up to my knowledge. I know I cut the Snake Lady out for my Jacket because the value of having an Original piece outweighed the novelty of having a complete Tapestry to me.

If I had known at the time that I could have the parts Printed I may have made different choices, but maybe not. I have a friend that intends to have the originals duplicated, and if he's successful he'll sell prints to anyone interested. *fingers crossed*

I'm taking some of my parts I've updated on my Prime Jacket in the past and working on another one. This will be the 3rd Jacket I've put together, although I scrapped my first one to create my 2nd one (Prime) and I reworked that one twice. Anyway, here's what I have so far...

You scrapped the first one with or without the pieces?
When I say scrapped, I mean I took everything off of it and tossed the Jacket. It was a large Blue Jean jacket that never fit right.

I used the parts to put on a Medium Black Denim jacket, which became my Prime jacket.

I updated that Jacket a few years later with the Correct Leopard, and a much richer looking Matador.

So printing this at 40" wide "should" come out close to scale, what would the height be then?

Good news! I printed a Peacock tapestry on a Plush Velvet material at Contrado and it turned out pretty good.

I think this may be a viable solution for those who can't find an original Leopard.

Here are images of the actual printed fabric, and the Source image, as well as a pretty decent pic of the Leopard if anyone wants to try it out.

Note: This material will not Fray, so if you go this route I'd suggest sewing the pieces onto a canvas or cheesecloth of some type to Fray the edges.
