LOOPER 'Young Joe' Costume and Blunderbuss Build! Updated pics (10/12/12) DONE!

So...my costume has the seal of approval from the man himself, Rian Johnson!

Ha, I completely geeked out when he tweeted back.

And one more because I kind of like this pic.

What photo should I use for the costume contest, dudes?

1. Holy crap, Rian Johnson gave you an internet high five. :eek
2. Use that last image. You've got my vote. :cool

Very nice job. You just need the white canvas blanket on the ground to complete the scene. Great choice in shooting next to a cornfield.

Nice job! And great location for the pics! A lot of cornfields in this area!

Thanks! Certainly a LOT of cornfields, ha!

Well...after seeing FBA's Blunderbuss painted up and weathered, and upon seeing Looper for the fourth time last night...I decided I needed to re-weather.

(The paint looks REALLY red in this one...it's not so dramatic in person)

(Also added some nuts to the tabs I fabricated.)

(Crappy picture...better ones later!)

I'm also re-working the handle a bit. I added the sling mount/loop (pics later) and I may go ahead and dremel out a bit more texture in the visible wood grain. Also may add a strip of sheet metal down the center to break up the back of the grip a bit.

After that I think I'm going to fill in the logo on the slide and add a few details to it.

Thanks for looking!

Hey Sharpshooter, excellent job!

In those last several pics you posted of a closeup of the blunderbuss on top of the jacket, I noticed a small tear in the jacket where the Carhartt patch used to be, and it matches a similar tear on the screen-used jacket. On both yours and the screen-used jacket, most of the patch seems to have been cleanly removed except for that one small spot. I was wondering, is there something under/on the patch that catches onto the fabric when you remove it? I'm only asking as I recently bought this very jacket and want to remove the patch but I want to avoid tearing the fabric, is this possible or is a small amount of tearing unavoidable?

I own one of the jackets and there's nothing under the patch, it's just sewn on. If you're handy with a seam ripper or a craft knife it would be very simple to avoid any tearing. I'm assuming Sharpshooter deliberately replicated the tear in order to match the screen-used jacket. :)

I just used an x-acto knife and sliced through the threads. I replicated the rip pretty easily with the same knife and a steady hand.

Thanks!

Great scott! This is amazing! Been following this and this is the ultimate 'end' to a thread!

I could see the tape on the handle getting a little more dirty but thats just my 2 pennies!

Awesome buddy. How about some of those weird 'natural' green contacts as used in looper? You'd look even closer then.

I was actually considering some contact lenses. I tried the prosthetics but they didn't quite turn out the way I had hoped. Bad enough that I didn't post pictures, haha.

Thanks fellas!

Hey sharpshooter, where did you buy that pocketwatch that is pictured with your jacket and blunderbuss in those recent pics?

Will you only be modifying the watch face? Or the case as well? I recreated the pattern on the case lid seen in the movie (as accurately as possible from the very quick glimpses that we see it closed) on Photoshop so that I can get a cheap plain pocket watch engraved with that pattern at some point. I can send you the pattern if you like.

That'd be great!
