Looper Blunderbuss - Pics of Painted Slushcast Kit on pg. 18

Re: Looper Blunderbuss - Finished pics on pg. 13, Moldmaking WIP pics on pg. 14

Finally saw this movie and I loved it!

Thinking about starting a build based on yours but worried that I don't have enough equipment to pull it off. I'll probably wait until it's warmer out too.

The only power tools I really needed on this build was a drill and my Dremel, which I used to trim and cut the aluminum and PVC tubing and drill the mounting holes in the YHM-5005. Good luck with your build!

Thanks for the encouragement! I am excited about the weight of a scratch built version.

What is the inner most diameter of the blunderbuss? And also, how much do they cost?

can't discuss prices here, but I believe he will be doing a run in the junkyard when he's ready to sell them.

If you're talking about the YHM rail piece, the Inner Diameter is 1.75".

If I was intending to buy one, I would try to mod it into a barrel break 40mm airsoft grenade launcher. So if it wouldn't fit the grenade I would know that.

If you build it up like mine, you'll love the weight. I'd estimate it's about 2 pounds...nothing too crazy, but heavy enough to feel nice and solid.

That's a great plan! One of my regrets during this build was not instituting the break-open feature. Good luck on your build!

Hey jonaas, would there be a way to ship a finished gun in 2 pieces? Im trying to figure out my odds of canada customs seizing a finished gun

I think the problem with splitting the slushcasts in half is that it'll take more work to reassemble it solidly...so much work, that I'd imagine you'd have to refill seams and repaint it to hide the gap. I can say this...I sold my old YHM-5005, a triggerguard, trigger, and slide to someone in the UK and it didn't get seized. Maybe since the blunderbuss is so odd and UN-gunlike, it'll get through? We'll just say it's a scale model of the Discovery One from "2001: A Space Odyssey" :lol

Well, what's the worst that will happen? It will get seized by someone at customs who loves the movie.

Thanks, do you know what the inner diameter of the aluminum tube was because if it would fit the grenade, then do you think I might be able to purchase the whole thing and I could try to mod the handle so it would be able to hit the gas valve on the grenade.

Re: Looper Blunderbuss - Finished pics on pg. 13

Any updates on the cast builds? I'm really curious to see a completed one! I am happy these are taking you a while to put together, it's given me some time to set aside cash now that we're through the holidays! :)

Planning my own build, I was wondering how you would have done the break?

I would want to be able to slam it shut like in the movie without it falling apart. It would also have to lock properly.

Man I have been dusting of the spot to display this!

Re: Looper Blunderbuss - Finished pics on pg. 13

Any updates or pics or the progress so far? Just wanted to see if the Jan 31st completion date was still on track

Thanks

I can't really articulate how I would do it here without some kind of diagram, but I knew I would've DEFINITELY had to get the pieces machined out of aluminum (which would've been freakin' expensive). Not only that, since I couldn't figure out how the lock on the movie gun worked, I was just going to cheat it so the look of the lock would remain true to the source material.

I've got about 6 nights off until the 31st and I've got 10 guns cast, 6 guns trimmed and cleaned up, 4 guns primed in Flat Black Krylon Paint + Primer, and two painted guns awaiting weathering and hockey tape. I've been going about this in a really disorganized way. Starting Wednesday night I'm going to change my methods...instead of bouncing from gun to gun, I'm going to stick with a gun from start to finish and not move on until that gun is completed. I'll put up pics of the first completely finished gun by Friday.

....what?

Sorry...kid was messing with the computer.

Back on topic. I have access to a machine shop, I could probably assemble this thing given a decent schematic but I'm more inclined to buy one. Please let me know what I have to do! I know I'm late to the party on this, I've just been. big Rian Johnson fan since the Brick days and I would love to have this. Thanks.
