Long overdue update… I received the castings and wow, what a mess. Not the casters fault, unfortunately the molds just died. They were pretty old to be fair. We were in fact only able to get 3 usable castings…
The main issue was the barrels weren’t perfectly round. So with a lot of boiling water and arm wrestling, we arrived at an acceptable finish. I used some pvc pipe to give the tips a clean finish…
I made an interior barrel as they were just a messy fiberglass interior. Filled in the surround and used filler to make them look welded…
My son designed and printed 3 slides and I custom made trigger guards out of high impact plastic and triggers from metal wire. The castings all got worked with filler and loads of primer…
And after many days we ended up with 3 finished Blunderbuss. 2 are spoken for and the last will eventually be offered here. Won’t be for a while as they are packed away ready for our shift to the US. But here’s a sneak peek…
Turned out pretty sweet I think.
