Yep looks like a chamois to me as well

That cloth above in the pics, looks like a chamois cloth that you use to wash and dry your car with...

update,
ill post some pics but i have the entire sword molded all in its seperate parts...

the box replica is coming along great but i am having issues with the locks... i will be posting pics and will be calling on RPF board members to help out

ok heres a few picture updates and also a few of the locks... now i want o find these specific ones and would love to find a dealer not just one or 2... so if anyone can come up with something ill make it worth while

hmmm... not sure if you will be able to find exact matches... They were probably made in the 80s and were common then, but have probably been out of production for awhile. I'll keep my eyes out though and pass the pic along to a few contractors who do a lot of lock work.

From what I can gather via Google Images, The Kurgan sword case appears to be a vintage musical instrument case (most likely for a trumpet) made sometime in the '50s or '60s. Below are links to the closest I could find to those locks that you can buy today.

closest i can find for the locks are these:

close shaped hinge wrong key type: Item # R4/343, Keyed Side Hasp lock on Franzen International
