KLINGON Bird Of Prey advice please...

Anyone interested in the *BIG* WARP KBOP kit?Its twice as big as the old AMT kit.I read the R2 re-release will be in 1/350 scale instead of 1/650 as it was originally.

Looks nice Mercury! I also like the stance... i was debating that pose when I started my build. : )

Thanks! I loved the landing stance and it wasn't common back then. The engine looks funny in the pic because of the flash. It's straight even though it looks crooked. I used some gold foil type material inside to give it a reflective glow. Looked better than other attempts I tried.

Yours is looking great by the way. Can't wait to see the finished piece!

You mean, the original AMT KBOP kit was always 1/350 scale or was always 1/650 scale? The AMT kit is smaller than the Tsukuda kit that came out in 1990/1991.I think the WARP kit I have is something like 1/250 scale(I think?),but I'm not 100% sure, just pretty sure.

You're doing a great job on this. One of my favorite ST ships. The landing and take off scenes over Vulcan are some of my favorite shots of the BOP.

Posting this pic purely for inspiration....

Well, I meant 1:350th but, as I hoped the link would explain, I was partly joking because the ship's scale was all over the place. :lol

Yeah, I've read about that. There are supoosidly like 3-4 different ship classes or something like that?

oh heck by the time we hit DS9 they changed scale on the same ship from shot to shot. :lol

The conclusion on ex astris is that the original BOP from ST:III/IV was supposed to be 110 meters more or less.
Here is the link again. It's a bit geeky but considering how inconsistent the program was with the BOP I think it bears repeating.

I ended up making working hinges from stacked 0.8mm black styrene (black so it didn't need to be painted which would gum up the works) I gave them a light spray of alclad to get the metallic look.

needed 75 separate pieces :wacko

There used to be an aftermarket kit in SSM made by Coby for the AMT KBOP kit that allowed for positionable wings.I don't think he makes them anymore?I was trying to get him to make me a special set for the WARP kit, but I think he didn't have the time and was overwhelmed by other projects and outside responsibilities?

That's a pretty awsome tutorial.I wonder if it can be modifed to be used on the WARP kit?Figure I'll end up keeping it,no one seems to want it.

Well, after a few more weeks I finally had time to continue on the BOP.
Here are a few pics.. ALMOST DONE!!!!

Thanks. : ) I still have to paint the warp drive engine & front torpedo emitter.

Not sure about base... yet.
I'd love to make a base where I can move the ship in different angles.
Anyone have ideas? :confused

What brand/colors are used in this? Wife picked up for me for my last birthday a bop on ebay, it has about a 36" or so wingspan if i recall.
