Kit-bash Show-off Thread

Hey team. Thought it would be cool to have a thread specific to kit-bashed models. It’s something I’ve been diving into the last year or so and man, I wish I’d done it sooner. So much fun!

“Kit-bashed” is a pretty open category and I think we should keep it that way. While some of my own builds are traditional kit-bashed models, others are more outside the box. For example, all metal builds from vintage found parts (more of those later).

So feel free to post your kit-bashed creation for all to enjoy. And include a couple “progress” picks if you can, so we can all glean from your process.

Here’s one to kick things off…

A favored kitbash of mine is the rather obscure submarine "The Raven" from Irwin Allen's The Amazing Captain Nemo. The sharp-eyed Jay Chladek spotted clues in the few screencaps I'd made which showed the model builders that Irwin had used a Mattel Eagle as the basis of their build - I went cheap and used a AMT/Ertl Eagle:

That's awesome work, looks like it has lots of dakka! Any self respecting orc would be happy to pilot it.

One year not too long ago, our model club had an annual club build themed '3-kit bash' to get folks to exercise their creative muscles. The results were varied and for myself, I was quite happen with the result (which was inspired by Kow Yokoyama's 'PKF.84 Falke') I achieved. Details of my build are posted on the club website so you can see the breakdown there (link at the bottom below the other entrants:

Unfortunately, I realize now that I never got around to posting pix of the final result, so will do so as soon as I can get it done... but the almost nearly finished model pix gives a good idea of the outcome:

Big part of the joy I had was in creating this 'sprint engine' section:

Cheers!
