James Bond: Skyfall

I feel like that article echos my belief though mostly on the fact that it has the best crew of any other Bond film.

I like the new take on Q.
 
The IMAX Skyfall trailer was shown at Comic Con last night and wooed the audience, especially with the train sequence footage. And there was good amount of exchange between Q and Bond.

Trailer COME ON online.

I've read that he is being compared to Simon Pegg in Mission Impossible series bringing that light humor to the table. I'm hoping to see this new preview with TDKR IMAX on the 20th

Well that would suck. As much as MI3 sucked, Simon Pegg made it even worse. It's the writer's fault as much as Pegg's, but his style of "humor" was misplaced in MI3. I haven't seen MI4, namely because the "trusted spy is now on the outs with their own government" theme has played pretty thin - especially in the MI series, but I can't image it got better. Don't get me wrong, I love Simon Pegg, but there's a time and place and I thought it was a mis-cast in MI3.

My beef with the picture of the new Q is twofold:
1 - He looks too much like a Matt Smith/David Tennant cross Doctor. Maybe one I see/hear him it won't, but that would assume he isn't going to be a fast-talking know-it-all.

2 - Too young. Again, we'll see how it's played (i.e. if he's not THE Q, but just a random member of Q branch). I just find it hard to believe someone that young is going to be given security clearance at Bond's level that quickly. Senior members of the office should be, well, senior (well, maybe not 60, but at least in their 40s). Youth automatically == inexperience and thus it appears to be more of an attempt to pander to a younger audience.
 
I like the thought of a young tech geek as Q. It just seems more plausible that a younger kid who grew up in the fast pace technology era already familiar with the tech instead of an old man trying to learn how to use an iPhone.
 
Not going to judge Q until I see him in the context of the movie, but my first thought is, "god, no". Looking at that image, Craig and Q seem like they're in two separate films.

May very well be proven wrong, though!
 
I'm interested in seeing what a young Q will bring to the table. Maybe he'll be a stark contrast to how the Craig Bond functions.

Q: By using this, you can easily take down your enemies without making a mess of things.
Bond: ... But I want to punch stuff.
