Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Working on the forearm now :) its about 75% done and it will come in two parts: an inner and outer forearm (kinda like darkside's Mk 7 forearm or Dancinfool's Mk 3 forearm :))

nice cant wait to see it

Trying to figure out how the neck piece attaches to the helmet. Here is what i have thrown together real quick to see how the scale would be to me and check for movement. is this accurate?

For hands and feet, you can use the projects of war machines?

It's fantastic!

Ladman- Looks pretty close to the reference pics :thumbsup
just make sure you can still turn your head at least a little... It's tough to do because the neck isn't a perfect circle. I like that jackie's neck is broken up into the individual rings. In the movie those look like they nest in each other and rotate independently (see how the fronts indents don't line up). That'd be pretty sweet to get the neck to work like that on a home suit.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Nice, that is a really good pic of the neck.

Maybe i can get these individually printed in 3d. If i re-created them with a grove for each one to sit in interdependently, then perhaps that would allow them to move independently and create that movement. ill throw something together in 3ds max today and see if i can get a prototype of this together. hell if it works ill post the plans in here for everyone.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

problem is they look round, but I'm not sure they really are. In the pep file, they are more oval shaped, and the back is flat, as you can see in Irongatsu's pics. Now the back could be a non-moving separate piece, but the other problems is the gap for the head in the torso isn't very wide, the current oval neck barely fit, and you'd have to include a way to put them on and off easily, which is tricky with this kind of sliding movements. I thought about it too, but decided it was easier to do it in a flexible material, rubber or foam. Allows a better range of movements overall. But I'd be very happy to see if you find a solution though

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

I see what you mean about them being oval and the back being flat. I have been working on trying to figure out a way to make them move all morning in 3ds max. with them being oval, they will not be able to move more then a few degrees in each direction. even if i put some type of interlocking grove for them to sit in.

Update:

I just put a grove in on the individual pieces, and you are only going to get about 2 degrees of movement in either direction. So i don't know if it is actually going to be work getting this printed and set up for that little of movement.

is an issue that I have studied today as I traveled. Lattex or the foam is the solution most suitable for neck, inner elbow and the back of the knee

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Have a scaleing question here.

I found this chart i think on the 405th.

PatriotWarmachineScale_zps27ce2994.jpg

pepakura uses mm not cm, so how can this be converted to be accurate, given the fact that the scale chart is correct?

I also found a Scaling formula but i need to know what the default height for the IP model is that the Pepakura files are coming from? does anyone know?

Teragon: Yep I agree they aren't round at all, at least in the peps. I put together a second neckpiece (paper again) and I'm seeing if I can change the inside edges to make the rings rotate independently. I think I can make something work with a flexible urethane if it works in paper, theinner rings will just have to be REALLY FLEXIBLE and not bind.

Ladman: The first post lists default height at 6'8.5", like your chart shows. I assume this is based on Jackie's 3d modeling 'mannequin', so it should be pretty close. There is no IP suit height yet, we don't have feet yet, but I think you can trust Jackie's scaling. It's working for me fine.

CM to MM conversion? Move the decimal over? 204.47cm=2044.7 mm :lol

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Maybe with inner round interlockable rings inside the external rings it would somewhat work, but you'd have to have a thin neck, plus there still is the problem of how you're going to put it on.
Size chart is sweet, but I scale my parts at 393.5 and they are good, a little bit tight for the lower torso, but the chest was good and so is the rest. Thing is I'm 185cm barefoot and rather broad shoulders so in theory I should scale them at 403.5 ? I think that would be a bit big !

Doesn't hurt us that we're in the same scale lol... The chest would look huge at 403.5, I preferred the risk of a sectioned lower torso rather than scaling up more. I'm 3cm taller than you, and this scale still looks (and fits) great at my height. Making a separable neck with rotating sections is pretty daunting, it's be easier to just have it tuck into the helmet opening.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

So you use 393.5 too ?
By the way I'm almost done with the arc reactor, and it costs about 15$ to get it printed so not too expensive. I'll post the file when I'm done.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Haha I thought you knew that. My whole suit is 393.58, arms, legs, everything except the helmet (which is 9). $15 isn't bad, that'll look good too.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Yeah I think I actually used this scale after you posted it, silly me :lol

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

I'm 6'2" which is 1879.6 mm. according to the chart i would have to use the 74.71 which would require me to put the scale at 408.98? this chart is in cm so do i convert the 408.98 to mm and put that scale in? sorry for all the scaling questions, i just want to make sure the suit is as perfect as i can make it.

nice job man, it came out good. I will be using this when your plans are out!!

Also, I thought about the neck problem all day at work today. it the back pieces were separate, then the rings that are oval could appear to be oval, but really be circular and you would not be able to tell because the back pieces would make them still be oval. then they could have that grove in them to rotate interdependently. In order to put this on piece by piece, you could have a thumb screw on each piece in the back to clamp them on and tighten together. Then the back pieces could cover up the thumb screws.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Ladman, I was thinking kind of the same thing (about the oval-circle build).

You might as well scale at 393.5 too lol. I am 6'2" and have built Jackie's files for me at this scale and they work good (see pics). As an added bonus, anything Teragon and I modify or design for our suits should interchange on another 393.5. It'll be an Iron Patriot army...

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

lol, that is awesome!!!!!!!! we should all build suits and show up to the same conversion!!!

i put in 393.5 in the scale box, but it game me an error saying: Specify 1- 2000 for assembled size?

I thought i had to put this number in the scale box at the bottom of the Change Patter Size menu?
