Well, that will require some experimenting ! Need to order some leds anyway, so I'll take some extra bright ones and a few red ones, so I can try only white leds behind red tinted material, or white material with white led in the middle and a few red leds around the edges.
On another topic, would anyone be intersted in a few stickers with the decals I made ? I want to order some for myself, but they come in sheets so I'd have 1 extra set of hip decals, 2 extra sets of jet intake decals, 3 extra forearm decals and 62 extra "AF/04" for the shoulder ? Not sure if I can talk about precise costs in here or if I should make a junkyard thread, but it'd be around 1 to 5$ depending on the set. Or I could order even more and make a run for more than just a few sets, depending on how many are interested. For the shoulder markings I went with vinyl lettering, not at the same place and I don't have extra since they are custom made (and rather expensive 35$ !). The "AF/04" is a sticker though, was too small to be in vinyl lettering.

Im not even close to do sticker yet. Plus i can get them made up a school for free i think. but thanks for the offer. if i do need some, i know who to get a hold of

I did a couple of paint samples. Anodized blue over chrome is the lighter sample. The darker is chrome with a bla k chrome top coat then anodized blue... GM

Yes duplicolor is what i used. But it is the same piece in both pictures. I used to work with candi colors and have found that they change color through the day and at different angles... GM

Just finished reading the new Marvel Iron Man 3 Prelude comic (part 1), was released a couple days ago I think. Not too much help.
Stark hates the Hammer weaponry of the WM suit, so he builds Rhodie a completely new suit to use (Iron Patriot style). The IP suit has not been painted stars and stripes yet. Unfortunately not much for reference here, but the IP cannon is used, along with forearm weapons and repulsors.

Nice, i kind of like the color with out the stars and stripes, lol.

I doubt that we are going to get any new reference material any time soon. I have not yet heard from a guy i sent a message to on deviantart about his model he did. if i can get my hands on it or even on some rendered images, we would have a lot more to work from.

They should be progressively releasing more images as the movie approaches.

No, not from 405th, I made that chart up based on these files. They are NOT 100% accurate, but they can be a guide if you would rather re-size then test/build with paper before you go to card or foam. The best way to size is via point to point measurements. sorry if this chart added confusion, but some people don't like to use the point to point method for whatever reason and I thought it would help people out.

Have a scaleing question here.

I found this chart i think on the 405th.

pepakura uses mm not cm, so how can this be converted to be accurate, given the fact that the scale chart is correct?

I also found a Scaling formula but i need to know what the default height for the IP model is that the Pepakura files are coming from? does anyone know?

just read the prelude comic, it's interesting : it doesn't have red lights on the arc nor the eyes neither, and the shoulder cannon seems to fire regular bullet ? Could be just the drawing style though, but in my mind laser is red (or green), not yellow...

ok, so i re-scaled with the 393.5 on everything except my helmet that i did. at first the helmet was too tight. my nose was pushing on the face plate. so i scaled it up 10% and that worked great. gave me that little extra i needed.

I re-made the neck piece just now with the new scale, but it is very tight on the neck and now my helmet seems to be too big for the neck. so i think if i scale it up 10% on the neck i should be good.

what is your guy's build? im 6'2" but im 205 lbs and a bit on the muscular side. im thinking im going to have to add 10% increase to everything if i use the 393.5

Ladman I measured all the parts of the body and I split so the armor of the patriot:
biceps: 328,074 scale
upper torso and lower torso: 340.839000 scale
thigh: 372.971072 scale
shin: 347.001098 scale
neck 340.839000
hand measurement standard
foot: 20.067072 scale
I measured all the parts of my body, I go to the gym and do not follow the standard measure.
I did thor in Pepakura and measures in scale do not match.
if I follow the scale 393 measures in centimeters are too exaggerated and becomes too high to wear
the patriot I adapted to my needs, hoping it is not too tight.

Hey Lad I have similar proportions 6'2" but Im 230 with a 34" waist In your opinion do you think the lower torso section will still fit at this scale? Do you have any room to spare in that section?

i might have to do the same thing. i have a feeling that if i use the 393.5 scale factor, that i will have to increase an additional 10%.

im not sure, i haven't gotten that far with my build yet. i have a 34 inch waist as well, and i would think that you would have to add am inch or so for padding.

you are supposed to be able to use the scale factor for everything, however, everyone's body is different. just because i use 393.5 for me and some one else is the same height, they might not be able to use that same scale factor. at least that is what i gather on this. that is why i have been asking so many questions myself....

The rest of the released parts are all scaled proportionate to each other, but the helmet is in a completely different scale set. Changing just the arm and leg scales a little to compensate height doesn't look too 'off' in renders.

Spydwar- At 6'2 and a 32" waist I could barely squeeze into the lower torso, and that's built without the thickness of foam.
