Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

I looked at this picture again, and noticed that the hip plate is actually recessed behind the COD. The guy who created this model has it rigged, so maybe he had to do it so the issue we are all having would not happen. Just a thought.

hip problem can be solved easily fixed with hinges above under (inner layer) is held close to the body with a rubber band or a band, when you sit down, follow your rotation.

If you look at this picture, you can see that in the thigh there is a metal plate, similar to the patriot, that I banged when I sat or walked. I solved just with the band in the thigh to hold it steady. both in the patriot, the plate must go inside the thigh and below the torso. I hope you might help this my advice. for questions please contact me.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Irongatsu (and Teragon): After we were talking about this earlier, I tried on my torso again with the leg on. I checked the hip plate movement, and (at least on mine) Irongatsu is correct. The hip plates stay petty stationary, unless you are trying to sprawl out (sitting or standing). If they are kept in with a band, the thighs tops don't hit them anymore than they hit the codpiece. I'm thinking of attaching a length of elastic from the inside lower torso to the back of the hip plate. That's easy, cheap, hidden, and replaceable.

Thanks for the info Irongatsu :thumbsup

just like I did. the elastic does not hurt and allows movement, fiberglass or foam does not change. you can not sit or stand up and strip not ruin

Thanks laellee

And a closer look to the neck seal (tip for plastazote foam : don't plasti dip directly the foam or else you get a texture)

About the hips, yeah the elastic band should work, it's worth giving it a try.

Hey that's a sweet build you've got happening there...GM

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Teragon, that's looking great.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Looking freaking sweet there teragon. I'm going the cardboard approach on mine. i want to get familiar with the suit before i use foam and risk messing up. I figure the more i build the same part over and over trying to figure out the scale for me, the better i will know how it all goes together properly when it comes time for the foam build.

here are some pics of the helmet i did last night. it was my third build on the helmet once i figured out the scale for my head. the duck tape makes it look awful, but it allowed me to be able to bend and flex the helmet for the correct angles i needed after i hot glued it.

thanks. Cardboard is good for getting the hang of it, it's cheap and easy to work with, but don't worry foam also is !
Working on the arc reactor outer ring (the red thing with two bits going towards the centre) to be 3D printed.

Nice work man!!

i have an unlimited supply of cardboard at my disposal, so might as well take advantage of it.

I have been looking at getting some foam, but still unsure on what kind and what thickness to get. i was thinking of getting some EVA closed cell form from foamorder.com. was going to use 1/4 inch for the basic pieces of armor, and then use 1/8" for detail areas of the armor.

also, i found a guy who has created a sweet ass IP 3d model. Trying to get a hold of him so that i can purchase it from him. then i get some a lot of the parts 3d printed. I have access to a 3d printed at school, so i am working on getting some parts printed for free!!!

Teragon, where are you getting your 3d printing done, local, or online?

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

sculpteo.com, it's a France based service. But I'm currently trying to make them fix my last print, since they screwed it up (see my skyfall thread) so i'm hoping they won't be any bad blood after that, because I have plenty of things I need to print on a regular basis...

Have you tried Shapeways? i know that is the company that Xrobots used.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Teragon,

is that 1/2" foam you are using? it looks thick.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

yeah I know shapeways, it's just that Sculpteo is in the same continent as mine so it ships quicker. And it's 10mm foam or 0,39" according to my converter. 1/2" would be 12mm, so a bit thinner. I also use some 5mm and 3mm at some place.

are the prices pretty reasonable? what have you had printed out?

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Iron man mk7 elbow joints, batarangs, various part for my skyfall radio and some other stuff, usually not exceeding 4-5 inches. About the price, it's about the same, just the shipping cost changes. Shapeways is actually cheaper, but slower too plus there is a chance I get customs fees on the way too.
And I need the silver coating option from sculpteo, which doesn't exist with shapeways for my skyfall project.

Hey everyone!

Oh yeah, toys...

I saw these pics the other day. And i agree with IronLeoMan, both the arms and legs (the parts i have left to completely model) are 100% from the IM Mk 7 :unsure it sucks :(

Wow, Nice toys. Here are some other pictures of them that i found.

Awesome! I hadnt seen the back of these toys so these pics should help a LOT with the boots :) Thanks a lot!

Any updates on this awesome thread? Might go freehand on the missing parts

Im sorry :( the holidays were really busy and these forearms are a pain to get the shape down right. But it shouldnt be long for the forearm now and the boot comes right after and thats pretty much it for the suit! (handplate and elbow) :thumbsup

Great idea! It looks awesome!

Working on the forearm now :) its about 75% done and it will come in two parts: an inner and outer forearm (kinda like darkside's Mk 7 forearm or Dancinfool's Mk 3 forearm :))

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Good to hear.... I like the two-piece style a lot. Makes it a lot easier to get electronics built in... (y)thumbsup
