Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Same as laelle, 32" waist but I fit in the lower torso in 10mm foam. Tight fit though.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Sounds like I'll have to improvise a little on the lower torso by adding spacers. No problem though done it before and worked out fine. With my Mk4 I had to add an inch spacer on each side for the abs and 2 inch tapering down to 1 inch spacers for the chest.
Thanks for the response guys. I am currently doing the helmet for molding will post when it's further along, probably by the end of the weekend.

:thumbsupNice work Gaiatron, looks super easy to build

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Yeah thanks ! I'm not 100% sure how to assembled the arm though :lol But I'll figure it out.
One thing : I think it's flipped
gunv.png

ironman31.jpg

See the holding plate at the bottom of the gun is on the right on the pic but the left on the model. No big deal though, I just flipped the pattern on pep designer ;) But I don't understand where the rounded piece at the very left of the model is supposed to go ?

Oh and if it helps jackieisrockin, I'm willing to contribute to buy this 3D model on deviant if it's for sale and could help him model boots and arms.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Wow, good catch on the cannon plate! I just looked back at the paper posted file as well, and it looks like the whole cannon model got inverted back in the beginning process... SOOO, if anybody wants to print these, they should be inverted in pepakura first. I'll correct the pep files right now and get them over to Jackie to update in the first post.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Hey folks just another quick question. The lights for the helmet, arc, repulsers they are white this time around. Because on some pics of the war machine it's a little hard to tell. Thanx... GM

I agree with the others. I think the eyes are red, and the RT and repulsors are the normal off white :)

yea, i noticed this red tint as well.
im wondering if the lenses are actually a red tint, but with a very bright white led set behind them. that red at the edges makes me think theyre tinted

I agree as well :thumbsup

Just finished reading the new Marvel Iron Man 3 Prelude comic (part 1), was released a couple days ago I think. Not too much help.

Stark hates the Hammer weaponry of the WM suit, so he builds Rhodie a completely new suit to use (Iron Patriot style). The IP suit has not been painted stars and stripes yet. Unfortunately not much for reference here, but the IP cannon is used, along with forearm weapons and repulsors.

Awesome! That looks pretty cool. I believe it was Stealth who said a while back that he thought the forearms had "pop-up" machine guns so good call, Stealth :):thumbsup

been out for a while but here is another contribution again jackie:

so busy this days.

Glad to hear back from you! Thanks for this ill put it in the first post :)

Please dont bother buying it :) the boots and arms and many other parts of that model are not screen accurate. Great file but wont help here but thanks anyways :D

Sounds good to me! Whenever your ready :thumbsup

Here are those files corrected... Keep in mind the cannon will still look backwards in Pepakura's 3d window, but they will print correctly now. I just inverted and rearranged the pages to fit. :thumbsup

As for the Deviant art render, it was dissected a bit on this thread after being first posted online (it appears on here page 24). Rafael does excellent work, but Jackie's right that the forearms and feet aren't screen accurate to the Patriot suit.

This looks fantastic!!!!

Also, had a thought today about the helmet. Does anyone have any idea on how the face plate is going to flip open on the helmet? with the extra " Wing " that wraps around to the ear and fitting into the cut out of the ear piece, how is this going to open and close? I though it would be cool if the ear pieces pushed out to release the face plate, then it flips up like all the other helmets? However, i'm thinking that would be hard to do with servo motors and having them lock into the ears perfectly.

Any ideas on this?

Yep. It'd cover my 3"x2" arc well !
About the helmet, I think it will open like all the previous helmets, since the MK47 also opens like usual and these two suits seem relatively close. Now how I don't know if the wings do cause a problem or not but if you take a look at this pic (projectearth7's helmet):
DSC07050.jpg

It looks like it slides out without too much trouble. If it doesn't, we'll have to figure out a system that pushes the faceplate out, then rotates it on the top of the helmet. The jaw apparently slides out forward, if it's like the MK47.

laelle, didn't you say a few pages back that you had an idea on how to animate the cannon ? Because I had a crazy idea that just might work with some knowledge in arduino programmation, or some help from a guy like therealtonystark :
what if we could link the cannon to an accelerometer in the helmet ? This way, when the cannon is up, it follows your watch : wether you look left right up or down, it reacts accordingly ? That'd be awesome, don't you think ?

I do believe in this concept as well. As seen in the prelude comic,

Faceplate opens the same way with the previous suits.
You can read the comic in my facebook account. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.541855529158778.129937.100000030081087&type=3

okay, thanks for teh input and advice guyss!

can someone who has finished their helmet in pep or finished bondo
can you post a couple pics of the top and side profile where the faceplate meets the top of the helmet.. mine has a very tight mountain at those two points on each side, and im wondering how i can level it or if everyone has bondo sculpted to make it more round and natural.

That would be awesome. I've already put together the physical layout for servos and the microcontroller to do this, and I can script the arduino to do this. The helmet link is is the tricky part though, and one of the reasons I wanted to finish figuring out the neck movement. My wiring schematic uses a couple of potentiometers between the helmet and suit (left-right, up-down). A practical install that's reliable and disconnectable is still in the works; I would also like to try using flex sensors instead to measure the helmet movement; I've never gotten around to using these in a circuit, but they look like they could translate head movements into a much more reliable signal. If anybody here has worked with one of these, please PM me.

Are you building in paper? You can tape or temp-glue in a paper 'bridge' to level out the area from the inside before you resin the outside. I fold paper into long rectangular or triangular tubes and glue them in for the bridges.

ladman- Nice find on that LED panel! I especially like the price :)

Did you try to contact Xrobot already ? He used infra-red receivers to wirelessly link his helmet to the body, maybe this could work ?

Definitely workable for sending the actual signal. Some kind of interface still has to be installed in the helmet to measure the movement through the potentiometers. A gyroscope in the helmet top working with a twin in the suit might work too..
