and you are right, it looks different... because i have changed it a lot to get the look i'm aiming that it almost become my own sculpt...

but again... my deepest gratitude and appreciation to sharkhead and dubean... i cant thank them enough... :thumbsup

looks fantastic! I think however the "lip" on the gold piece of the mouth is actually just some orange peel and excess paint rather than an intentional line. Check out the vertical seam on the forehead between the faceplate. That is a painting error and not some purposeful line in the helmet.

It is at 94% of the default scale. Download the free version of pepakura and the file he used in the first post, scale it to 94% and you will have all your answers

thanks bimmer... you are probably right regarding the lower lip as excess paint but it sure looks good for me:love... so we decided to put it on our build... in a way, it became our signature since (i believe) no one put that detail except us

Hi everyone...

finally back for an update... its been quite a while since my last update on our build... been busy with our family food business:unsure

anyways... i just finished the molding process and done my first pull and 2nd pull...

i was not able to do detailed documentation of the molding process since i've been pre-occupied by other important things... so i can only share few pics... here goes...

Faceplate Mold

Lower back piece Mold

Then 1-by-1 I pulled my first cast...

I use a colored Gel-kote... for the first pull I used red gel-kote...

Casting method:
1st layer --> Colored gel-kote
2nd layer --> Non-sag Polyester resin infused with milled fiber
3rd layer --> fiberglass saturated with polyester resin

On my 2nd pull i used yellow colored gel-kote for the faceplate... this time it looks alive...:love

I forgot to mention... i turned our 3-piece helm to 4-piece... much like the movie design

Have done the necessary trimmings on the casts and.... voila!

Now all the 3 sets of helm... master plug (left), 2nd pull- yellow face plate (center), and 1st pull (right)

Again, casts were not painted... colored gel-kote was used...:love

Finally, I think i will proceed casting with the color scheme of the 2nd pull... I figure, if the painted helmet will have scratch and what you'll see underneath is a similar color, the scratch would be virtually unnoticed (just my idea... i dunno if you guys will agree:confused)... and besides, it looks great even without the paint...thumbsup

Sounds like a perfect idea to me.

Also, you did an excelent work with moulds and casts, high quality. And please, keep using fiberglass. IMO fiberglass makes helmets to look real (weight/resistance).

thanks abaris... actually the casts have some small bubbles that needs bondo filling and some small lumps that needs sanding... but overall, its quite a good result:love...

all casts we'll be using fiberglass since PU resin is not available here in our place... and besides, according to one of the official propmaker of the IM Movie, the helmet was cast using thin fiberglass
