perfect work

thanks mrcome:)... its far from perfect actually:confused... the raw cast have some small bubbles that needs bondo filling and some small lumps that needs sanding...:unsure still needs effort to make it close to perfect... but its ok, i will do my best;)

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- MOLDED / CAST PULLED

TEETH WERE BACK!!! :love woooo-hooooo!!!

First I attached a card stock on the chin to make a pattern...

Drew and cut the pattern...

Photo-0946.jpg

Traced the pattern on a 2mm (thick) foam...
Photo-0947.jpg

Drew the teeth details and made the indentions using a soldering iron...

Photo-0949.jpg

Temporarily attached it to the chin using double-sided tape...

We decided to make the teeth from foam since it is most likely to touch the cheek of the wearer... to use a soft material seems a good idea to provide comfort :):thumbsup

Isn't that the sweetest smile...:love

Hope we achieved a movie-like-effects on the teeth...:confused

I think we can leave it as is (matte finish)... or we can also seal it using white glue (for a semi-glossy finish)... what do you think guys?

Comments and suggestions are highly appreciated...

cheers!

I wish I had the money for this helmet. Damn I have to buy some aluminium ears for my Fett helmet!

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- MAGNETS INSTALLED

Today I had the chance to take photos of my brother to show how the foam teeth performed...
Photo-0975.jpg

It is touching the cheek...
Photo-0977.jpg

And proves comforatable since its a soft material...

Faceplate and teeth fits well...

Then magnets were installed on the back-piece part.

We used a 8mm diameter x 2mm thick magnets bought from a craft store...
Photo-0973.jpg

Initially we planned to put 4 sets of magnets only, but the magnets are not so strong... so we decided to put 2 sets more...
Photo-0985.jpg

The magnets were attached and secured using epoxy clay...

Sanded some excess epoxy clay...

Back piece fits quite well... but i still think if we used rare-earth magnets, 3 sets are already enough to secure the back-piece part to the helm...

Any comments and suggestions are more than welcome specially regarding the cheap source of rare-earth magnets...;)

Thanks for viewing and for your time...

cheers!

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- MAGNETS INSTALLED!

Looks great, I used 3 sets of 7 lb pull rare-earth magnets on mine and they were plenty. Still looks beautiful

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- MAGNETS INSTALLED!

I want one! You Guy's are doing an excellent job! Keep building!

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- MAGNETS INSTALLED!

K & J Magnetics Inc.

I think a lot of people on here recommmend K & J. They literally have any size/strength magnet you need.

Actually, are Neodymium magnets the same as Rare-Earth magnets? I am getting the feeling that they are not. The neodymium's are plenty strong none the less

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- MAGNETS INSTALLED!

Yes... Neodymium and rare earth magnets are one in the same... Free source of these magnets would be old dead hard drives... Most have 2 of these magnets inside and they are insanely strong... Dont get your fingers caught between em lol
