I believe our motorization method is similar to TMP's... i think the only difference is that we only used an ordinary DC motor I got from my son's broken toy powered by 2 AA batteries...;)

He sure is! Did that facebook page get started? lol I use his cousin, Mr. Spatula, when I'm doing a lot masking for painting the Captain America shields. He gets shoved into grooves and such all the time.

So are you guys planning on doing the whole build, or just the helm?

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- FACEPLATE SURGERY

Just had to stop by and say amazing work! Absolutely fantastic, you should be so proud x

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- FACEPLATE SURGERY

How do you plan on attaching the lower back portion of the helmet now that you removed it? Great job so far.

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- FACEPLATE SURGERY

Great job on the separation - that was a single scariest moment of my whole build (and I hadn't work as long or as hard as you guys had making it nearly 100% screen accurate!

Glad it went well for you! It's looking really, really great! :):thumbsup

lol:lol... haven't made the facebook fan page yet (but we'll do soon)...
its great news hearing from mr. popsicle's cousin... hoping more relatives and friends will come out... mr. popsicle will be delighted to see all of them...

i'll be introducing soon the big brother of mr. popsicle... that is MR. SANDING BLOCK...:lol (he's kinda camera-shy as of now)

And yes, we are planning to make the whole suit... but we'll be using foam materials since we want it to be light-weight...:love

By the way, you did an excellent job on CA shield (y)thumbsup... love it!

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- FACEPLATE SURGERY

Sorry not much of an update cause im still in the body filler and sanding stage of the 3-piece parts...

Anyways... i wanna share some of my sanding tips that i hope others will find useful...

After i've done a couple of strokes sanding the helm, dust will build up on the sand paper surface thus reducing its roughnes and sanding ability...
Photo-0666.jpg

So to restore its roughness, i used a steel/brass brush to remove the dust...
Photo-0667.jpg

:eekVoila!!!... The clean sand paper is like brand new again...
Photo-0670.jpg

But be careful not to brush too hard cause it can actually dull your sand paper...

And to prevent too much gumming on the sand paper, always have a brush within reach so you can brush off the dust on your helm every couple of strokes...
Photo-0672.jpg

Continuous sanding with the dust on your helm will gum-up your sand paper

OTHER TIPS:
Regarding the brush used on polyester resining / fiber-glassing... many people here are asking how to save or re-use the brush...

Well me... I used lacquer thinner to clean the brush after i used it in fiber-glassing... i've been using the same brush more than 5 times now (i think... i loss count:D)

So hope these tips can help you guys... i will post the updates on the 3-piece soon... its taking me so long (details.... details... details)

cheers!

Re: Ironman mkvi pep helm (aiming 99% movie accuracy) --- SANDING TIPS
