Ironman Mark VI - Foam - Australia - First time build

Just stumbled across you mite remember me form Oz comic-con i was in the red mandalorian from the contest :) was just wondering if you mite have a link for the foam you used for your helmet

Are you working from a plan? I'm still learning how to navigate forums, so it's possible you've posted it and I've missed it. Your construct seems very well organized to be pulling it all from your head as you go.

This was an awesome build, so awesome to see more Aussies getting on the design/cosplay band wagon! I am only new to the concept myself so I am researching it all before giving it a shot! Thanks for the inspiration!

great build mate, im aussie also in melbourne makes me wana just head down and start right now, im looking around and getting all the hints n tips i can to start my very first build.

keep up the good work =)

Great job man, I know my foam armor took a pretty good beating after wearing it to a party and dancing in it, rubbed some of the red right off it.

Hi Madrick! I ended up here 'cause I'm working in a Mark VI armor (EVA foam, hot glue, etc...). I'm making some pics of the process (have completed chest, back, shoulders and starting biceps right now). But one thing bothers me: did you scale down your pep files? I mean, I know Iron Man is supposed to be big, but the armor looks so well adjusted in you. Thanks in advance and best regards! Hope post my pics soon. (BTW, I'm brazilian).

Update: sorry for my question... You've already answered in your very first post. :)

Hello RPF members. I'm a newbie to foam building, and I'm using the MARK VI files modded by Stealth as my first ever build. Thanks alot man, you're awesome. I took the advice on this forum and started with the chest piece instead of the helmet. For the lights, I'll remove the box later on. The thing is I don't know if I'm doing my pieces right. Could you guys give it a look over? Thanks :p IMG-20130518-00213.jpg

Hi all... newbie here too from Melbourne - really interested in making something but a little overwhelmed by some of the skill that some of you guys have.... will try building a piece or two and see how it goes first! Well done on the amazing builds everyone....

Hey guys! I was inspired by this thread, and finished my first suit. I'd like to link another thread that helped me A LOT in achieving a good result:

- For cutting, glueing and save some time (and material): http://www.therpf.com/f24/foam-speed-building-filesntricks-multi-hero-cowl-added-148889/

- For hands, I've created a custom file (with pics), available here: http://www.therpf.com/f24/iron-man-gloves-new-custom-easy-pattern-5mm-foam-a4-179973/

Keep up working, and one more thing: no need to hurry. Patience and practice are keys for good results. Regards!:D

These Suits look great! I myself am an Auzzie and have just started working on my Mark 3 suit using 9mm Yoga squares (Similar to the EVA foam kids letters/numbers) I picked them up at the Reject shop for $12, 4 squares total. I started off with a lot of trial and error but am now getting the hang of it as I am no such a noob anymore..
Getting more and more done each week!
Also here is my progress: http://www.therpf.com/f24/iron-man-mark-3-beginner-193632/#post3024625

Another Iron Man Mark 6 for team Australia haha :) Here's my Mark 6Snapchat-20150123072632.jpg
Sandbager also has built a Mark 6, his build is very impressive! He's currently working on a steel build.

I decided to finally check in see how your suit turned out after subscribing to your thread so many years ago. Your suit turned out great! I realized I never updated you on the progress of my Iron Man mask after posting a progress pic many years ago too. I finally finished it and after a year break I began working on a full Iron Man suit to go with it, all out of fibreglass. I've got electronic built in to lift the face plate, fire the repulsors and the unibeam (brighten the lights and make sound effects on the movement of my wrists) and a voice changer. I'm really happy with the results for my first ever costume build.
