Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit Pics Updated 06/25/2013!! WIP

Yeah Steve is amazing when it comes to building / modifying Leslee's Iron Man, or any Iron Man from what I've seen. I plan to utilize all the work he's documented when it comes time should I need to make mods to my Leslee Iron Man Mark IV. I'm really tall and really thin, so I'm pretty much built for his suits!!!
Post up whatever pics you have of your suit so far!

Ok Guys, a little later than I wanted to be but I'm crazy busy as usual..

Anyway, here's a render of a quick 3d model I built to best show the set up.

Two aluminium bars with pre drilled holes.

Bolted together at one end, use a nylon washer between the two as this will help free smooth movement.

Also, I've shown where you need to resin and fiberglass over the end to make sur eit locks up against the inside wall of the thigh and then the other, the inside wall of your lower leg, the pivot point (bolt section) should be in a free gap or at least where your knee will bend, so I'd advise, you place this in and before you Fiberglas it in, Hotglue it! Test it with your leg inside the pieces , make sure your happy, then fiberglass it to make it solid.

This should be as clear as it gets.

Oh and a second note* if the inside wall of you thigh or lower leg isn't flat and doesn't allow you do the above like my War Machine didn't then place the bar in a vice and bend it so it has a step , so that it better fits the wall inside the thigh as there may be a step or a ridge to the edge of the thigh piece. Again, you can see pics of what I did there on page 2 of this very thread.

These instructions are very detail and what I needed. Thanks again so much for helping us tackle this. Hear from us again soon Robosteve for our next issues we're going to have (lol)

You're welcome guys, yeah it's a bit of an ongoing battle to get these things together, just take your time, that's the main thing, these suits aren't worth rushing!

How much room is in the chest section? I've got a 50" chest to cram in there.

Your chest 'shouldn't be a problem as there are fairly roomy it'll be the waist line that's the issue, I'm a 32 jean size, much bigger than that and you WILL have issues.

What is the advantage of using a nylon or plastic washer over metal... been looking everywhere for nylon or plastic, cant find them

Amazing armour. Some of the best I've ever seen. Did it come painted? Where did you get your repulsors?

had to track down the nylon washers but i finally found them... I took 3 hours today and finally got one leg installed with the mending plates, and omg it works wonders! my knee bends ever so easily... Now i just have to fiberglass to get them to stay on.. Everything else with the suit is easy peasy.. Thanks yall.. ill continue to post up my work once i get everything set up.. don't worry guys.. Still i need some ideas about keeping the hands together...

definitely, i told everyone i was going to.. so now i have to.. I also finished my amazing spiderman costume in time so my co worker can wear it.. its going to be a blast... I also put therealstarks(ryan) electronics in the t jacks helmet.. It will open and close with the eyes turning on when it closes. Just too bad i can't fly... all this wouldn't be possible if it weren't for you guys in the thread.. I'll post up some pictures on the legs tomorrow...

I've been so busy I haven't even bought the plates for the knees. Post up some pictures of what you've customize so far when you get the chance.

here's a shot of one leg with the metal joint bars installed... I recommend first lining up the shin and the thigh like in the first picture. I used the top of the shin to match with the line right where the gold starts on thigh. Then install one bar on the shin and thigh... do this first cause i made a mistake of putting bars on the thigh then bars on the shins.. when i put it together, it didn't match and i had to start all over again.. All i need now is to fiberglass these puppies ... I tried these on with the elevated shoes already, works perfectly.. Just forgot to take a picture of it.. Hope this helps =D

Well after searching and searching for a more improved leg hinge system for my suit, I think I've found something to start out with... well at least as a template, I need to find some decent flexible plastic. I'm going to go with a system closely resembling Steve's joints in his Mark III build for the leg joints. Barn door hinges!! lol... I'll post pictures tomorrow afternoon/night after I have the hinge picked up and trimmed down with my handy plasma cutter, then I'll be searching for the material I will be using as well as how I'm going to create the pivoting motion of the joint. On a side note.. I had an early Halloween party over the weekend.. wore my helmet and the completed chest and light i used as the arc reactor.. had quite a few admirers and already have some reworks to do for fitting... at least I'm getting some test runs in and finding out what I need to do to perfect the fit of this suit. Updates to come tomorrow on those new joints.

That's going to be a tough one. I'm currently a 38 and cutting down for a bodybuilding show. I might possible by that low in 6 months. Going to be close. Of course my legs will never fit into a size 32.

Thanks for posting and showing what you're all doing to get things going on your MaskedRider Iron Man gear. It's going to help a lot when it comes down to my time getting things together right. :)
I'm loving the hinge systems. Definitely brilliant to do with gear so high quality. You want to make sure everything you add to it or mod on it is as top notch as the gear itself.

Metal will grind and jam up and not give the flued motion you need , plastic or nylon will give that! try the plumbing section of a hardware store ;) you'll find them!

Looks like you guys are well on your way, remember, take your time , measure up! line up first then glue in temporally and then once happy, fiberglass only when it's right!
Great progress guys, keep the pictures coming!
