Iron Man Mark III (Dark Asylum)

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Dark, I hope this is cool, if not let me know and I'll take it down. I thought Id share pics of my finished Dark Asylum suit.

The suit is very light weight. It was 20 lbs without the shoes. I can bend over at the waist and touch my toes if i want to. The articulation in the suit is amazing. No costume like this is going to be comfortable but this suit is relatively comfortable. More so than my stormtrooper. The light weight of the suit is a blessing when your in it. I couldn't imagine anythign heavier. A heavier suit would be torture. The plastic lets the air in quite well too.

I still a have to buy dark red pants, finish the fingers, the arc light, and the repulsors, but other than that I'm done. I'm finished soldering now, so the lights will be in very soon.

I went with a post battle look because I thought it looked more badass.

Wow that's totally cool I actually appreciate it get to finally se the first finished suit al together and worn I like the post battle look reminds me of Bobba fett style paint in relation to the scrapes and black tarnish.

You did a awesome job putting that together so I most give you credit for all the hard work you put into finishing the MARK 3 can't wait to see that baby light up like a armored christmas tree I known it's a pain some times to get a raw kit together but you did it very impressed sir and thanks for the pics I'm sure folks here I going to love see one put together and give you the proper respect in helping get a finished suit out there.

Thanks and great work please keep me and every one else updated on the suit and any other progress.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Wow, DA you truly are a master with ABS. Let me re-phrase that, a true artist! The detail and look of the suit are incredible. I'm sure I'm not the only one on here who is facinated with this thread and really appreciate your openness on sharing your techniques.

Is there anything we can do to keep you interested in maybe, possibly, reproducing some suits. I know you mentioned that you feel the market is becoming saturated with Iron Man suit producers but you are a diamond in the rough. I love the idea of the ABS and the vacuforming technique and you've managed to produce a piece of art that I know only a few will get the opportunity to truly appreciate.

I myself have been contemplating for some time purchasing some of the other suits out there as I have no-where near enough talent required to create one myself. The fact that you are using a light-weight composite material and the over all ability to manouever around in the suit has me wishing you would re-consider your decision not to produce these fantastic items.

Thank you for creating this thread and the excellent job you've done keeping us all posted of your progress from the very beginning.

I'm curious to see pics of you bending at the waist to see how the latex ab plate moves.

Honestly Its kinda hard to be making more of these it takes up lots of time and money. If I know DA he does this for the pride and joy he gets out of making these. Hes not all in it for the money. He does it to show others and say 'hey I can do it to'. Many people will get bored of doing the same things over and over. He knows that there are many people out there who makes dozens of these and he just wanted to make a few of his own. Im just throwing this out there I dont care if anyone reads this or not im just rambling on now hahah

Looking forward to seeing the final one you two get painted up. Anxious to see another update. It has been a while. :confused

awesome work! congrats to both of you. i was initially skeptical of a vac formed iron man suit, but this is proof that it works.

I like the post battle look. Also its great if you damage the paint job by accident. It looks like its supposed to be there.
