Unlimited Run Iron Giant Bolt/Screw kit w/ electronic light and sound

Excellent.. I fully expect world domination though, can you guarantee that the robot will perform as expected and help me with my supreme overlord needs?

Of course! I guarantee it will "help". But you have to understand that I've sold a number of these kits. Each kit is one screw. Each screw is one found and completed Iron Giant. If you expect "supreme overlord" status, you need more Iron Giants than everyone else. Mr. Savage alone will have 2 giants soon (see video HERE). You'll need at least 3 (Place order HERE). It's an arms race.

I've just placed an order. Let me know if there is a presoldered version. Will pay the difference if its available soon.

Will do

Hi

No, there is soldering involved. Although it is fairly simple soldering work. I am planning to offer a pre-soldered option for the electronics, but I don't have pricing on that yet.

So you lose a fingerprint or two. That's the fun of soldering. Might buy multiple kits and try different paint styles. I'm thinking IG steampunk?

Nice! Brass and or copper would look killer. Please post pics.

Cool. Shipping next week! Can not wait to get my kit. Soldering or no soldering I can't think of a better project to learn with ( done very little soldering).

Hey all

I don't have a lot to share right this minute. But, I hadn't posted an update in a few days so I wanted to ping the thread to let you know production continues.

I'm still confidant that the first kits will ship this week, and then continue to ship as they are produced.

I'll have more info soon.

Thanks

UPDATE:

The re-re-mastered cone part came in, and they've been casting up very quickly.

The PCBs came in. They are so cool. I'm geeking out over them in a big way.

For those of you that are concerned about soldering, here is the skinny... It is fine/small work, but it's all Through-hole components except the speaker which solders to pads. The components are as follows

1 micro-controller (8 solder points)
3 resistors (2 solder points each)
3 battery clips (2 solder points each)
3 LEDs (4 solder points each if you count each end of the wire)
1 switch (4 solder points if you count each end of the wire)
1 speaker (2 solder points)
1 capacitor (2 solder points)
1 optional jumper (2 solder points)

40 or 42 solder points total. I'd call this intermediate level soldering. About 45-90 minutes work with a fine tip iron.

I have added the option to get the electronics kit pre-soldered in the store HERE for $24.95. This includes shrink tubing on the connections to the switch and LEDs, stranded wires long enough to allow easy installation, and (of course) testing of the completed board.

Packaging and shipping supplies came today.

To do:
Continue casting parts
Drill out LED holes in the heads
Deburr the cut pipes
Package up kits

I'm planning to ship out the first batch of kits on Saturday. Kit's will continue to ship as they are produced. You should be notified by storenvy.com (and paypal if you used it) when your order ships.

Thanks to everyone who ordered the kit. It's been so much work but so much fun. I hope you all enjoy the kit as much as I did producing it.

So great that you are offering the electronics kits pre-fabed. While I feel I could probably do it having it done already will make it a ton easier. Thanks!!!!

THANK YOU for the predone electronics option. I always get frustrated with electronics.

Is there anyway to upgrade my Kit+ Electronics to get the prefabbed electronics without buying a whole other electronics kit?

Okay, I just ordered the pre-soldered option and listed in the notes my original order #. Is that all you need to know?

Yep. You're all set. Thanks so much.

For anyone elses reference... No need to leave a note. I'll match up your orders by name and/or address.

How much for the electronics completed but the bolt itself unassembled?

Hi

It's $114.90 for the full kit with assembled electronics.. If you go to the item page HERE, then click the drop-down box, you'll see the option for the full (w/ pre-soldered electronics)

Note: There appears to be a glitch with the listing causing it to show the wrong price. Make sure it shows the right price at checkout.

Thanks
