Unlimited Run Iron Giant Bolt/Screw kit w/ electronic light and sound

Got mine yesterday, and it looks awesome! There are some really, really tiny air bubbles in a couple of parts, but I've already filled most of them with about an hour of work. I cannot wait to really get working on this!

Even though I have several other projects going at the moment, I couldn't wait to get started on this one. I primed all the pieces and started to paint. I'm going with a dark charcoal metallic for the main screw, and then I'll mask-off and paint the lighter top part in a metallic aluminum.

Still sanding and perfecting. This metallic paint dries really weird - and stays tacky for almost a day.

WoW! That color is intense. It has a very strong alien vibe. I love it.

If anyone wants to mimic the paint job Adam did in the video, this is the stuff he used.

Rub n' Buff

Its pretty cool stuff. And you can get really amazing results with it. It's strangely hard to find in stores

This is my first time doing any type of project like this. What type of glue is best to use to glue the copper pipe to the body and head of the screw? Also do i solder the speaker directly to the PCB?

Hello Leunam
I'm not the best person to suggest how to glue the parts but as for the speaker yes you do solder it directly to the two long pads on the end of the board next to the IC chip. The whole length of the speaker leads lay on top of the two long pads of the pcb. It will help if you can use something to hold the board and the speaker at the same time. Why people only have two hands I'll never know.

Awesome! I have a one of those helping hand tools somewhere. I'll use that to hold it together. Thanks!

Any super glue will work. I happen to you Loctite. I've also used 5 minute two part epoxy. I'd recommend sanding the pipe before you glue it though. That will rough it up and clean it for a better bond.

One note. Some of the speakers have longer leads than the others and will need to be clipped. I personally clip the shorter ones too (just a little), but you can get away with leaving them full length.

Also, on the subject. Make sure to solder the positive and negative leads to the right terminals. It WILL work if you wire them backwards, but it will not be as loud.

Here's an updated shot of my painting in progress. Shows how the metallic aluminum looks with the metallic charcoal. :)

Just a few little bumps to smooth out here and there.

I like where you're going with this.

Were both spray paint? I like it!

Yeah, I painted the whole thing in charcoal first (you can see it a few posts back). Then I masked off the little "scalloped parts" and painted the top part silver. You can see in the enlarged photo a few little imperfections where the masking didn't keep all the spray out, but in person it's hardly noticeable. I'll take another picture once I get everything completed and glued.

What color did you go with for the underside? I'm always torn when doing a two tone paint job whether to make the underside the color of the scallops (darker) or the cage (lighter).
