Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

Do you even know what she "usually plays and writes?" Because it really seems like you (or those who complain about her) don't. I mean, FFS, she co-wrote the screenplay for No Time To Die, which is among the best reviewed and rated of the Bond films (not JUST the Craig era films) -- currently rated #7 of all of the Bond catalog on Rotten Tomatoes. In fact, she's single-handedly responsible for developing the character of Paloma, one of the best parts of the film. Her television, film, voice acting, and theater career is pretty diverse if any of the complainers were to bother to look into it.

Seems more likely to me that the majority of people who jumped on the anti-Phoebe bandwagon had a VERY limited perspective of what she's done and just ran with it. That's on them, not the casting.
Sure...she seems like a capable person with a C.V. the length of my arm; that doesn't mean I have to like her;)

That’s why his head looked so big in the film I suppose

It is intellectually dishonest to react to the film for a version you SUSPECT exists. Do you even listen to yourself? Part of your dissatisfaction with the movie is for something you only think might have possibly existed. That's absolutely ridiculous.

The conspiracy that there was some major and drastic change to the plot made AFTER principle photography is just that: a conspiracy. Find the evidence (which isn't a 4Chan post about how Helena goes back in time and replaces Indy, by the way). Mangold has said there were no significant reshoots. Karen Allen has said the final ending is more or less in line with the original shooting script she received.

But the only thing people have to go on is a comment by John Williams about having to rescore part of the ending. So what? They likely DID do some minor reshoots of the ending to create better clarity -- it happens ALL THE TIME -- and that very likely would have required adjustment to score to align it.

The instant Waller-Bridge was cast, a certain subsect of the fandom decided to lose their minds and decide the "agenda" was to replace Indiana Jones. And when that didn't happen, they can't seem to handle it, so now it must be a reshoot conspiracy.

JFC, you lost all credibility when you admitted that you're reacting to something you have no proof is real.

Oh, FFS. "Intellectual dishonesty?"

I can't un-learn what I know about the movie walking into it. In 1981, was it intellectually dishonest for people to let Harrison's Star Wars appearances affect how they saw him in 'Raiders'?

My admission that the movie's troubled development affected my reaction to it was a moment of intellectual honesty. Because I like honest exchanges of ideas more than I like winning debates against total strangers on the internet.

This is not an evil conspiracy against PWB. (If it's a conspiracy against anybody then the contender would be Kathleen Kennedy. How many Indy fans had any big opinion about PWB, or even familiarity with her, before they cast her in Indy#5?)

A few pages ago I already laid out the schedule of long delays in making this movie (which began after the Covid mess was settling down, not before), the budget, etc. We've got reshooting comments from John Williams & others . . . Kennedy has a CONSISTENT pattern of making MAJOR changes to movies after production starts . . . if you don't even believe that this movie got major reshoots then we're at an impasse. I think it's time to drop this exchange.

For what it's worth, I have been telling my friends in real life that the movie (at least the final version) isn't as terrible as the internet has cracked it up to be. It's just kinda bland & disappointing IMO. And PWB's character isn't so awful either, she's just another attempt to pass the torch that doesn't really work.

Right, but the problem is there are people STILL hating on Dial of Destiny for their misconceptions of what they thought it was going to be rather than what it actually is -- which is the intellectually dishonest part.
I dislike it for what it is, just like I dislike Crystal Skull for what it is. What it is... isn't an Indiana Jones movie. That doesn't mean some people might not like it, but it isn't what it needed to be for me to pay attention.

Then you're not who I'm talking about now, are you? Doesn't change the fact that there are still people out there hating on the film for what they thought it was going to be.

Wow...flinging around accusations of nearly every form of Logical Fallacy at folks just because they didn't go "ooh and ahh" at Indiana Jones and the Dial of Diarrhea? According to you: everyone else is stupid but you and that they should just fall in line with your rather acerbic opinion and marvel at how "refined" you are.

(yes... Ad Hominem. But you walked and crowned yourself in the head with it, to be honest. )

I think I'm going to skip even trying to talk to you; apparently the fandom here just exists for you to use as target practice.)

Don't bother replying...you're blocked.
