Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

Not sure how spoilers are being dealt with, or if this even is one, but set pics seem to feature a statue of Chronos prominently

Just curious - what are you basing that on? And, yes, we're getting new transfers from what I understand, and they looks gorgeous. Kinda related, was just watching Raiders last night for the first time in years and, damned if I didn't notice something new! After 4 decades seeing this movie, I NEVER noticed that the flying wing is visible in the BG when Sallah and Indy are sneaking up to the entrance to the map room. Huh!
The UHD set and the streaming versions on iTunes have the same soundtrack, albeit lossy on iTunes and the video quality is a bit better on the UHD discs having less compression. There is a review by "SpareChange" on YouTube that confirms similar findings and several on AVS Forums, mostly all disappointed in the Atmos soundtrack that is a step down from the previous 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack (less dynamics, 11dB less LFE bass and I believe filtered bass below 40Hz or so). The picture is improved, however. I plan to remux the old soundtrack with the new video (have both available to choose from) which I can play off my Xidoo X9S player using one of three hard drives I have connected to it (theoretically KODI should be able to handle it as well, but it would probably need a local drive as I have trouble playing 4K off my WiFi without adding additional compression).

The spy pictures are looking really sad. At least from a costuming stand point. If I didn't like the hat before, I absolutely hate it now and the whole wardrobe doesn't seem to fit him right. Plus... there's some major CGI coming our way in this new installment.

You have to wonder if Indy is stuck in the past. Fedoras generally went out of style in the early 1950s, if not a bit before. If he's still wearing on in the 1970s or something.... I can see hippies dancing by in short shorts and disco leisure suits, etc. and there's Indy with a 1930s Fedora and a whip (well OK the Village People would probably dig the whip). Bomber jackets never really go out of style per se, but not with an ancient Fedora. Yeah, I actually wear a Bogart outfit to a restaurant once in awhile (well the restaurant is called Bogie's and is Bogart themed and even then people don't notice as they couldn't care less about the theme there. They just like the food, but I'm a big Humphrey Bogart fan so I thought it was sweet that there was a Bogart themed restaurant within driving distance from me).

It's perhaps sad, but I own 4 Fedoras (Bogart black one like he wore in Maltese Falcon which also resembles Toht's hat, the Raiders style Indy one in brown and grey and another cheaper wool one that is closer to the Temple of Doom style Fedora but I think I always look more cowboy in it than anything else). I also have Belloq's Panama style hat. Ok, these mostly populate my home theater room, but I had them sized to my head so I can wear them sometimes (I've got an Indy jacket and a whip too and his revolver and knife and even his boyhood (radioactive) compass. I've got way too much Indy stuff (like three display areas around the home theater room now).

(Plus loads of other stuff like HERE )

I mean I get Indy being out of sync with the times, which is why I'm okay with him wearing his same adventure outfit. It's iconic and older people don't change their mode of dress to fit with the times. That's not my issue with this version of the costume. It just looks ill fitted and I don't care at all for the shape of the hat. The tapered crown, the awkwardly shaped brim. The pants look too form fitted, plus the wrong color, and the shirt looks baggy and too long. The jacket hangs off his frame and make Harrison look emaciated. The whip isn't a Jacka, one of the few things I genuinely loved about Crystal Skull. I know these are all personal preferences, but the whole thing just makes him look old and disheveled. I'm also super critical because I'm a costume designer so I'm likely going to be more harsh than most. It's not instilling much confidence in me. Who knows? Maybe the whole point is to make him look old and beat up.

I was one of the few people not terribly bothered by Indy being an aging relic of adventures past, but now seeing him, I'm starting to doubt that assumption. Not that I liked Crystal Skull, and honestly in my mind Last Crusade was the end of the story for me, but if they're doing a fifth, at least give the character some dignity. I can't honestly say whether I'll see this movie. Part of me wants to see Indy one last time in theory, but I'm not sure I'm even remotely on board with any of this.

Yeeeeesh that hat looks bad assuming he hasn’t just fallen in water or something. Maybe the tracking dots are for adding CGI rain for weather consistency

If they're CGI de-aging Ford I hope they do a much better job than Hamill in the Mandalorian. Especially if Indy's going to be younger for the majority of the film.

Older Indy could be revisiting the past if they're employing time travel, hopefully not.
KOTCS unfortunately demonstrated that pretty much nothing, no matter how bad it is, is off the table. Most of the pics of Ford are concerning as is the lack of Spielberg. Not expecting much but really hoping for the best.

Yikes, Ford looks like a homeless guy! Fingers crossed. I was excited for this five years ago, but now it's a crap shoot. I'd love for this to turn out to be a blast.

Anybody know what Toby is holding?

His hat is on backward and he looks sopping wet. Like he just got out of water and hurriedly put his hat back on. Also I've seen closeups of the object in Toby Jones' hand. It looks like some sort of artifact.

I think I was wrong. I don't think those are de-aging tracking dots. They're old age spots and moles. He should get checked for melanoma pronto! That cloudy British weather lets the UV through and the body's defenses go down. But then at, what's he now? 108 years old? I don't think Indy has any defenses left. That whip is to turn to dust! (It used to be almost orange). He should really spring for a new one (hat too). And for god's sake, tuck the shirt in Harrison! Just because you're 118 years old doesn't mean you can just let it all hang out!
