Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

It's a good trailer. I'm cautiously optimistic. The brief glimpse we got of young Indy looked good.

But the capitalism line was goofy af. It really came across as "I'm so smart and political and stuff, haw haw!"

It also didn't feel like an Indy movie. Probably because so much of the trailer was in a built-up city, where you don't tend to do a lot of archeologising unless you're building a new carpark and have found some old crap in the soil. Indy locations are normally out in some exotic locale in the middle of nowhere.

I guess I'll watch it but if there's any refrigerator nonsense in the first 10 minutes, I'm outta there.

Oh I remember another truly epic trailer that completely hid the stinker that came behind it…

Haha, with hindsight, there’s a lot of questionable choices in the trailer, but not having that context this trailer must have been insane at the time. There was nothing else like it, no franchise returning after a long hiatus ready to milk nostalgia. Nowadays that kind of movie is common, but I can’t think of a comparable situation before 1999 and The Phantom Menace.

Speaking of trailers, you know what trailer I absolutely loved growing up? The VHS release of the Indiana Jones trilogy. “Now on home video…if it’s excitement you want…thrills you seek…action you crave…then adventure DOES have a name!”

What is "Disney"? Mickey Mouse isn't alive. Disney did not hold stockholder meetings to decide whether or not to plan the ST's storyline.

The CEO has changed twice between two people since 2012. KK has been the executive producer of LFL the whole time.

CEOs are not there to do executive producer's job. Just like the owner of a sports team doesn't stand around in the locker room telling players to work on their defense. The owner hires coaches & managers to do that stuff for them. The owner doesn't get involved except in the biggest decisions like trading a big star player or moving the team to another city.

When a team has a whole list of good players but they are still losing games, it's time to point fingers at the coaches & managers. The owners are only at fault to the extent that they hired the coaches & manangers (and failed to fire them when they should have).

KK is the most directly responsible person for LFL's creative output since 2012. There isn't any room to debate it IMO.
Agreed ^^... as owner/managers, you want to hire the most capable people to do the job at hand. The problem is that the way the HR dept. does the hiring at Disney, lately (or other corps), is that candidates have to fit a "Diversity, Inclusion, Equity" woke mold that has nothing to do with real talent!
Let's see if, as an HR person, if I can tick all the woke boxes in hiring this future candidate (writers, actors, etc)
The lack of respect for the SW History, yes History with a capital H.

Sorry to rain on your parade; while I saw the movie in the theatre at the time, that trailer didn't do anything to me...especially that strange "comical" character based on the 3 Stooges:rolleyes::p

Star Trek: The Motion Picture?
Okay, that’s fair, TOS had been off the air for ten years, but the science of trailers in general (as well as nostalgia-bait trailers) hadn’t been perfected yet. Fan/nerd culture was yet to become the norm, like it is now. The internet didn’t exist. Sure, TPM wasn’t exactly at the zenith of any of those things either, but they were a lot more common.

Yeah, Trek didn't do a Nostalgia trailer until Star Trek 6.

Uh oh….

The reviews are starting to come in.

This sounds like another stinker for the franchise, folks…

I just want to to know if he survives before deciding whether to get tickets. (If anyone here knows, I'd appreciate a a PM.)

I'm getting major Force Awakens vibes from the trailers I've seen. Resting heavily on nostalgia and won't hold up upon further viewings, even if the initial fan response is relatively positive.

Critical reviews are mostly worthless these days. Bought and sold schills who give false praise for early access. They're not as objective as they used to be.
